Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.
My personal "OS in the browser" is nearly POSIX-compliant!

LMAO i feel ya! Encoders of a lot of image formats (including jpeg-xl) are available as wasm on squoosh (https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/squoosh/tree/dev/codecs https://github.com/niutech/jxl.js https://github.com/saschanaz/jxl-wasm https://github.com/GoogleChromeLabs/squoosh/tree/dev/codecs/jxl).
Support JPEG XL - Mozilla Connect Ideas

If someone can help the Yoga batch image converter implement JPEG XL and/or help the Curtail batch image converter do the same, that would be very nice. In the meantime you can use GIMP or Squoosh to convert one image at a time. There probably are some commandline scripts out there to do batch conversions, too, and there's always the official "cjxl" tool provided by the JPEG XL reference implementation project...

> all the sources are here:
Did you check? There aren't really any sources there, either.
Based on what is there, it looks like it's using the decoder from the JPEG XL reference implementation, libjxl (which is available under a BSD license):4 projects | news.ycombinator.com | 22 Nov 2022
What are some solid examples of PWA that you use offline?

For example, https://squoosh.app/ is an image compression tool. Got any favorites, good examples, or edge-case stories?
Jpeg XL supported on every browsers with a polyfill

It relies on the work made by the squoosh project to embed the jpeg xl decoder directly client side ! (I don't know how it works ! it must be magic...).

If I understand it correctly, they are using the Sqoosh Wasm build. And the latest commit to the jxl decoder is this which is using v0.3.1 from feb 2021. Maybe the decoder would be faster if it was compiled from a recent build.
How to make images load faster on a Node.js website

This thread has a lot of great suggestions conceptually. But to give a concrete tool. I'd recommend everyone always run all of your images through Squoosh for raster images (jpg, png, etc) or SVGOMG for vector images (svg). These tools give you a ton of options to visually compare the quality and file size of your images with different file formats, compression settings, and more. You'll find that playing around with those settings can often save 80%+ on a totally unoptimized image without it looking any different. Especially a photograph as those have a ton of room for optimizations usually.
Google set to deprecate JPEG XL support in Chrome 110

The images I've set up for web use are not very large. I don't have a RAW workflow.
So maybe I'm missing something.
I've found it very challenging to get better compression than optimized JPEG via Squoosh.
Of course, JPEG XL has alpha channels, and I'm comparing a new format against a standard that's had 20 years of refinement in implementation.
Are we cutting ourselves off from a similar future with JPEG XL?
Just deployed my first web app. I know it's simple, but any feedback would be greatly appreciated..

Good job with using svgs! They are already pretty well optimized. Although you can save at least 10-15% on them by minifying them. Check out svgomg for a visual way to minify svgs and Squoosh for a visual way to minify any other image type.
