H.264 + HDR?
Can't seem to get HDR to work from a Shield TV if HEVC (H265) is turned off. HDR works with HEVC, but at the cost of poorer performance and FPS dips during gameplay. I'm using the Mass Effect Andromeda trick (https://github.com/lyckantropen/moonlight_hdr_launcher) and I can only really say I noticed this issue recently. Anyone else experiencing this - or is everyone who got HDR to work stuck with HEVC?

My AYN Odin has HDR Display and I didnt know
Just check https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.liuzh.deviceinfo, there are many options to stream in HDR like https://github.com/lyckantropen/moonlight_hdr_launcher + playnite

Simplest and best way to gamestream all games inc. Xbox game pass
I installed the Moolight HDR launcher on the remote PC (https://github.com/lyckantropen/moonlight_hdr_launcher), and use Moonlight on my Shield. This way, I have an icon « Mass Effect Andromeda » which starts the streaming without loading any game. From there, I just use a mouse to start my games from the Xbox app.

My quest for the perfect local streaming setup is over
I'm using moonlight_hdr_launcher with gamestream launchpad which I have set to launch steam big picture mode so that I don't need to fake Andromeda for every game. I add all of my games to Big Picture Mode because I like to use as my steam controller and to use steam link on my phone on occasion. This lets me play any game on my computer at 1440p,120Hz, HDR.

Can't gamestream in HDR anymore, using moonlight HDR launcher
On host PC, I have moonlight HDR launcher (https://github.com/lyckantropen/moonlight_hdr_launcher) configured to start a HDR game stream: My moonlight HDR launcher config is as follows:

Cant make gamestream work with edid emulator
I just got the same one and it works for me using this launcher https://github.com/lyckantropen/moonlight_hdr_launcher. Took a bit of tinkering. I struggled to get it working because the EDID was not display 1 in windows so it would always stream my other monitor regardless of what was set as primary. My gpu always makes the displayport connections montior 1, if you can rearrange yours to make your EDID first that might fix it. If you can't do that it's a bit more annoying, can try to follow this guide which worked for me https://lighthouse.thecloudiest.com/2020/12/20/fix-nvidia-shield-moonlight-selecting-the-wrong-monitor/. This thread is also helpful, https://www.reddit.com/r/cloudygamer/comments/ma3zsr/moonlight_finally_solved_the_problem_with_windows. But I used something called multimonitor tool instead of the one listed in that guide. You may have a different issue though cause if it doesn't work when it's the only monitor then something else might be wrong, good luck!

TIL accidentally that you can initiate remote play then alt tab to your other monitor and stream anything to your deck
You can also use Sunshine as a game streaming server: https://github.com/SunshineStream/Sunshine And Moonlight as a client: https://github.com/moonlight-stream/moonlight-qt

The only feature that makes my friends jealous during school presentation, Thanks to KDE Connect.
Try x11vnc, or maybe Sunshine/Moonlight

I love remote play on the deck for my consoles in bed
You can use AMD/Intel also without problems. Just use https://github.com/SunshineStream/Sunshine for the server / host PC. Been using this for quite a while, Linux desktop with AMD as host, nVidia shield with moonlight as client.

Looking for some kind of (game-) streaming inside a Webbrowser
this might be worth a shot (if you’re looking for a way to do “full” OSS Moonlight) https://github.com/SunshineStream/Sunshine

Remote Desktop protocol through Ethernet USB 3.0 Android + Linux PCs
Currently, whats working best for me is using Sunshine as the stream server hosting games or media, and the Moonlight clients wherever. The moonlight protocol is an open implementation of a Geforce streaming protocol, but it works fine with Radeon cards (I use one). There are clients for Android, Linux and Windows. I use the embedded client on my RaspberryPi 3B+ for 1080p/60 gaming in my living room. The latency is very low, but I wouldn't use it for fast reaction gaming.

Need Help Streaming PC games to TV
Try Sunshine - https://github.com/SunshineStream/Sunshine It is an open source implementation of GameStream host. It will work with Moonlight client.

how bad of an idea is it to have a GUI and stream games from a server?
I am thinking about installing a GUI, steam, and maybe a streaming app like Sunshine so I can play games on my laptop, phone, and TV that has a raspberry pi connected. I know it's unconventional to have a GUI and games on a otherwise standard NAS and docker server. I do plan to keep the scope limited to games and streaming - I won't use it as a web browser or any other day to day activities.
What are some alternatives?
HyperHDR - Highly optimized open source ambient lighting implementation based on modern digital video and audio stream analysis for Windows, macOS and Linux (x86 and Raspberry Pi / ARM).
moonlight-qt - GameStream client for PCs (Windows, Mac, Linux, and Steam Link)
gamestream_launchpad - Optimized GameStream environment for launching all of your games.
Moonlight-Switch - Moonlight port for Nintendo Switch
cloudgamestream - A Powershell one-click solution to enable NVIDIA GeForce Experience GameStream on a cloud machine with a GRID supporting GPU.
Internet-Hosting-Tool - Enable Moonlight streaming from your PC over the Internet with no configuration required
Arduino-FastLED-Music-Visualizer - An Arduino based music visualizer using the FastLED library and a strip of individually addressable LEDs
ubuntu-xrdp - Docker fully implemented Multi User xrdp with xorgxrdp and pulseaudio on Ubuntu LTS (18.04)
xrdp - xrdp: an open source RDP server
