The Light Hotspots activation is the largest update to the Helium network since Validators last year and the core developers have been working hard to ensure a smooth deployment. This week the core team identified a few changes that require another update by various network participants and is moving the activation date to provide participants ample time to upgrade. No action required by Hotspot owners. To ensure blockchain components continue to work as expected we request all network participants upgrade their software to the appropriate version listed below by 2022-05-11 00:00:00 UTC. Based on the commits on github https://github.com/helium/miner/commits/master they fixed a reconnect loop for gatways and changed some radio related things.

The Device is running Balena-OS wich is basically just a normal linux with a fancy way to deploy docker containers. The Nebra software is running as (you guessed it) docker containers. They were so nice to upload the docker-compose they are using. In total they are running six containers: * gateway-config * nebraltd/hm-config:e0c6f88 * Some networking stuff * packet-forwarder * nebraltd/hm-pktfwd:e067bef * more networking * helium-miner * nebraltd/hm-miner:arm64-2a0e41b * the juicy bits. This is the actual helium mining code * diagnostics * nebraltd/hm-diag:7e26f35 * this thing is providing the diagnostics page on port 80 * upnp * nebraltd/hm-upnp:b575a2f * responsible for opening ports via upnp so the miner can phone home * resin_supervisor * ??? * probably the balena os management stuff

It seems like these issues are all due to buggy firmware builds being pushed out recently by Nebra with inadequate testing, as acknowledged by their CEO here.

During that time, the hotspot firmware was updated to 2021.10.07.3, the current firmware version at the time. When that happened, the external green LED went out; I could ping the hotspot's IP internally and it showed as online in the Nebra Dashboard, but I could not see it anymore in the Helium app, either after power cycling or after pressing and holding the Bluetooth button for 10 seconds. This was a very widespread problem, including completely halting Fairspot's onboarding operations, as discussed here.

I'm in the same boat as you and unfortunately so are many others, something about the software update seems to have hosed the bluetooth connection. People even opened an issue about it on their github (https://github.com/NebraLtd/helium-miner-software/issues/175) but the CEO is arrogantly dismissing it as "impossible".
