The number of mentions indicates the total number of mentions that we've tracked plus the number of user suggested alternatives.
Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Where to learn R?
On the other hand, there is also a more traditional universe outside of the of the newer tidyverse approach. See the criticism of the tidyverse ecosystem by Prof Norm Matloff (of UC Davis). He provides a freely available introductory course in base R.
Start with fasteR, then move to Hands on Programming with R and R for Data Science. There is considerable overlap in the early chapters so don’t be afraid to skip parts. If you want to know more about the nuts and bolts of R then try Advanced R.

Rgui or Rstudio? And why is my Rgui blurry?
Check out his free course on GitHub where you'll see he walks you through getting right into learning R, keeping things simple by using the R Gui command line: https://github.com/matloff/fasteR

Any suggestions on where I can learn R studio for an affordable cost?
R, the language you mean? I really like swirl, and my students do to.

Where to learn R?
Note, the R website has lots of manuals/introduction documentation and there’s also the swirl package to supplement / replace some of the options above.
Swirl is free and a good place to start.

Would love your college course PowerPoints on how to use R Studio
By far the best way to learn R is by writing R. A good way to do it is through Swirl, which runs inside RStudio, gets you to write code to solve problems, and then evaluates whether you got it right or not: https://swirlstats.com/
My colleagues recommend installing a package called "swirl" and working through their tutorials. https://swirlstats.com/ I don't personally know a whole lot about it, but I have heard good things.

For those making over $100K, what do you do for a living, how hard is it, how hard was it to get there?
swirl - I focused on data initially, and this interactive prompt-based course was an unbelievably good intro to R, a programming language popular with data scientists and statisticians. I shout it out whenever I can. CodeAcademy is a great website which uses this same kind of structure. Their R course was initially just swirl placed into a web app.
