markor VS Joplin

Emacs with Orgmode on the desktop. That's where most of my editing work happens. And for mobile the app Markor, synced via rsync in Termux with my desktop.

Additionally the app Joplin, which syncs via WebDAV to my server and is used by both me and my wife on both desktop and mobile to share notes, shopping list, web clips etc.

Joplin is excellent for sharing but its editing capabilities leave a bit to wish for. That's where Markor comes into play. Both support Markdown, so its easy to use both.

Just curious, any reason you're using TMarkor instead of Markor? (https://github.com/gsantner/markor/ , https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.gsantner.m...)

Only asking since this was also the editor I ended up settling on in Android, but it seems like TMarkor is just a repackaging of Markor without any references to its forked(?) source.

My requirement was that the repo had to be open source so that I could audit the repo and compile the APK from source, as well as potentially fork it for personal modifications if needed.

As other commenters posted, maintaining screenshots is a pain. Especially with software that's regularly changing.

Use Markor as my org-roam Set up my notes directory as my "home" directory, and set up some templates for creating new files, and set some timestamp formats to match org's. Also has a recursive text search that's good enough for my uses.

There are web based VSCode you can run. Or if you push to Github that with give you a good read and a ok write experience. I treat mobile as a read only so I use Markor.

I already use Markor for some things on Android, so this might work really cleanly, unless I'm misunderstanding Foam's structure.

You can also use Syncthing with any kind of local files only editor to make them sync-able. For example with Markor

I am using https://joplinapp.org for notes, using Dropbox for sync though (can also use NextCloud or other sources see https://joplinapp.org/help/apps/sync/

Joplin open-source tool, with paid Sync service. However, it supports WebDav sync. As a user of Fastmail have a lot lot of storage for it. Those parts work great, links, complexity level, and clear Markdown. Themes, mobile app, tags, everything I needed was there. Unfortunately, again, for short notes, my go-to app becomes memos, for long-form BookStack, seems to be the best solution. Why? Firstly my love for self-hosted solutions boomed, also Joplin even if looks perfect for my use case was some reason hard to describe and did not encourage me to write. Soo.. I back to Obsidian.

Longtime Joplin [1] user here, how does the most recent version of Zettlr compare? I have grown really comfortable with the simple interface of Joplin, plus using S3 for sync makes life easy for me as I'm living on my own infrastructure.

I've had great success with using Joplin for this, with Syncthing as a sync backend. Works well across OSes; I use it on Linux, macOS, Windows and Android.
