mage being a build tool and climate being a CLI library, a direct comparison probably doesn't make much sense but their parsing (https://github.com/magefile/mage/blob/master/parse/parse.go) seems very similar to what I'm doing for metadata (param names / godocs / comments etc.).

Try github.com/magefile/mage - it's written in Go and lets you write Go to run scripts rather than writing bash inside yaml ;)

Mage v1.13 is released - now supports magefiles in a subdir
Mage v1.13 was released as of yesterday. This included a few small fixes, and a big new feature - subdirectory support.

Italics not working
The italiziced text is a seperate font which you can download here: https://github.com/magarena/magarena/blob/master/resources/cardbuilder/fonts/MPlantin-Italic.ttf Install the font and restart MSE. If you have old unitaliziced flavor text left in the flavor text box, delete the whole box so the cursor jumps back to the rules text, then jump back to the flavor text box again.

Looking for some help setting up MSE and the Beleren font
Maybe try a different source. I recently installed all fonts from here (https://github.com/magarena/magarena/tree/master/resources/cardbuilder/fonts) and had no trouble at all. If that doesn't do it right-click the ttf and choose "install for all users".
