lpub3d VS FreeCAD

I'm trying to compile this application for rendering Lego models and instructions, and encountering difficulties because the maintainer's build script was written for cloud-based CI services. Consequently, the PKGBUILD that is included in the repository will not work properly. I'm in the process of figuring out exactly what the scripts do so I can make a PKGBUILD that does work, but in the meantime I'd like to be able to be able to build it in a semi-isolated environment.

FreeCAD is a general-purpose parametric 3D computer-aided design (CAD) modeler. This open-source software application is based on C, C++, and Python. PVS-Studio doesn't support Python at the moment, so I will only check the C and C++ parts. Here is the link to the project code.

Before spending any money on software, I think you would be best served by learning some fundamentals on how they work. Things like idealization of properties and boundary conditions are critical when performing solutions in any of those things (garbage in = garbage out). I recommend getting a free cad package (https://www.freecad.org is a good option) and then making some basic tools in Python or even Excel to solve basic beam and plate solutions.

For full 3d check out FreeCAD. https://www.freecad.org/ Again the UI is a bit eccentric in places. It's a huge project and parts of it are under active development so even if you rule it out now it's worth checking out again periodically. There is an integrated 3d CAM built into one of FreeCADs workbenches.
