It's far from clear how grub package updates work on Ubuntu
I assume this person meant to say `Limine'.
It's what I use for dualbooting Windows and Linux. It's really easy to Install, Use & Understand.

Limine a dog with fleas just died
They also publish a PHILOSOPHY.md page in their MS-source-git (github) that is, which is clearly offensive to us and many linux users:

Problem loading GDT in a x86-64 kernel
I'm using Limine for bootloader, and in its documentation, in the Protocol page, we have:
- Limine is an advanced, portable, multiprotocol bootloader
- Looking for boot manager recommendations

Getting the memory size with Limine
Hello! While reading the Limine protocol specification i noticed that it says that "all non-usable entries (including kernel/modules) are not guaranteed any alignment, nor is it guaranteed that they do not overlap other entries". How am I supposed to get the memory size then? If the memory map entries can overlap, then summing their lengths won't work. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

How do I make a bootloader that boots into a c kernel
It's way easier to use a pre-existing bootloader. I recommend Limine. It has it's own boot protocol that's designed for x86_64. You don't need any additional setup as it's already booted to long mode unlike Multiboot which needs you to switch to long mode since it's booted in protected mode. You can find an example kernel here.

MaslOS

Is it possible to install Windows 7 on a motherboard that doesn't have CSM Support?
and the article mentions something potential helpful: https://github.com/manatails/uefiseven

Looking for recent motherboards that have CSM (compatibility support module) option...
If you absolutely need Win 7 support there's a project called uefiseven, last time I tried it on my 2600X and RX 580 I couldn't get it to boot sadly.

Windows 7 refuses to cooperate with a very simple task (spoiler alert, to just install itself)
Windows 7 doesn’t fully support pure UEFI ootb from my understanding, all the boot related rules are confusing. Try using this: https://github.com/manatails/uefiseven Tried this and it works on an old UEFI Razer Blade 0116. Good luck to you

Updated ASUS A320M-K with latest version to use newer Ryzen but windows now show BSOD

i tried to install windows 7 ultimate on my laptop ended up here help
If you don't mind about UEFI, you can switch to Legacy on BIOS and boot again the DVD/USB; or if you want to use UEFI, you must use uefiseven to replace bootmgfw.efi in UEFI shell.
-
Just out of interest, what is the oldest computer that is physically able to run the very first release of Windows?
Without someone creating a UEFI app to implement the legacy BIOS services, it won't work without CSM. Some people actually implemented the BIOS VGA functions so Windows 7 could run on such UEFI boards(the generic video driver relies on legacy BIOS functions even in UEFI mode).
