Apple's APFS Migration: A Feat of Engineering
No smartphone these days gives you access at the mass storage level anymore (because it causes issues for concurrent access from the phone and computer, because there's often encryption etc.), so the underlying file system in this scenario is completely irrelevant and has no bearing on you being able to access the phone's data on Linux.
Android uses MTP or PTP (can't remember which) for that type of access, while iOS uses something proprietary, but there's a Linux implementation that worked reasonably well for me last time I had a Linux laptop: https://libimobiledevice.org/

Class action lawsuit over Apple's 5GB iCloud limit and iOS backup restrictions
It even supports WiFi, so you can have automatic backups every night while the phone is charging. Also the protocol has been reverse engineered, it’s possible to use a Linux server instead of having to use iTunes on windows or buying a Mac..

Communicate between app running on Mac and iPhone
Where would one begin to look stack wise? Ive looked into some C libraries and https://libimobiledevice.org is the only clue I’ve got.

[Discussion] Shutdown several iPhones at the same time
I already tried a non-jailbreak way of doing so by using libimobiledevice. Unfortunately, this library doesn't work via network, it can only shutdown devices with usb connection.

How dot disable usbmuxd so I can transfer photos from my iphone?
Popos seems to come with usbmuxd, which is a cool idea because it allows you to view the "documents" on an iphone (look into each app's sandbox), use USB tethering and theoretically transfer photos. You're supposed to get two icons when an iphone is connected. One for documents, and another for photos. I'm not getting the photos one and I have some photos I want to transfer.

iPhone USB connection to view/transfer photos works perfectly...once per boot. Fails the 2nd+ time unless I reboot?
Thanks! Just curious, was there a specific one that you'd noticed was tied in to what I'm seeing? I found this one, which at least by its description sounds like the inverse problem (doesn't work right after reboot, but works on subsequent attempts) but I might be missing.

Cannot Get iPod To Connect
According to the wiki page, usbmuxd should start as soon as I plug in my device, but that doesn't seem to happen. I checked and found the udev rule that should govern that at /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/39-usbmuxd.rules and it matches the rules file provided on the usbmuxd git repo. Even when I try to start usbmuxd manually my device just doesn't seem to show up, though running it in the foreground does reveal that it sees that something gets plugged in. It just doesn't seem to connect the device properly or anything. My main litmus test for if it's connected well is to run ideviceinfo. I always just get back that there is no device connected.
