So, while looking for websites to get inspired on, I found Lee Rob's website and I was amazed by how minimal and beautiful it is!

The initial idea I had in my mind was a very minimal site with a minimal navbar that would look more like a sidebar, and the design would be somewhat inspired by leerob’s site. Apart from this, I also wanted my site to display some cool dynamic and real-time data like my Spotify data, my blog posts fetched from dev.to and a guestbook where people could leave messages for me!

Here's mine, though still very unstable especially on mobile, design inspired by Leerob.

Next and preact aren't mutually exclusive, both can be used together (although the problems you mentioned are still present and it doesn't support the latest next version). The tradeoff would be to potentially have all these problems, but less bundle size.

This cut my bundle size in half but my app is just statically generated, so your case might differ. Also it doesn't hurt to try the full implementation using this https://github.com/preactjs/next-plugin-preact

And to answer that it's fairly simple. There are already plugins for that like https://github.com/preactjs/next-plugin-preact. I personally have not tried it yet. I just altered the config in `next.config.js` and set up a conditional statement if it's not in development, replace react with preact. You can take a look around at Leerob's repo on how he does it. My implementation is inspired by him.
