The release notes are a bit more complete than the changelog you linked, but yeah, they are composed from commits and issues on github. I don't think anyone is writing this up in between releases, you'd probably have to get involved with commit log if you want to know ahead of time

It's not clear exactly what you are asking for, but support for shaped windows was merged back in 2017, it probably covers part of what you want to accomplish ... see the relevant shape_mode, shape_image, shape_cutoff and other related properties in Window documentation

UrlRequest is just a wrapper to use http.client in a thread, see implementation on github. You could implement something similar for the firebase client to get parallel requests.
Code that worked in Kivy 1.11.1 doesn't work in 2.0.0 when creating multiple instances of a custom widget.
