The closest thing you will find to Jira is OpenProject https://www.openproject.org. Than you can integrate OpenProject with NextCloud with this app https://apps.nextcloud.com/apps/integration_openproject. Tbh OpenProject is not at the same level of Jira in terms of feature and customization and the Agile/Kanban board are available only to paying license.
  • Run application and make available on port to access with ssh

But What I was wondering, is can I just have the app running on my vps and only access the app. A while back I was playing around with openproject (https://www.openproject.org/) and the way it worked, is it ran on a specific port that you can access from the browser by going to the serverip:port. Then it would display its app in your browser.

Nextcloud is great cause it is structured similar to other cloud services and that makes it easier for people to learn. It also has smartphone apps to access and share files. There also might be a selfhosted platform that would serve your needs better. Maybe even one that is geared to the work your non-profit is engaged in. You mentioned working on projects, and there are alot of selfhosted options for project management that also allow you to manage documents online. https://www.openproject.org/ you might want to take a look at r/selfhosted
  • Open source planning software?
    1 project | reddit.com/r/software | 8 Nov 2021
If you're looking for "planning" features (as in project planning?), have a look at OpenProject. Maybe not exactly what you're looking for as this is something that should be installed on a server. But once you did that, you can access it from everywhere. If you don't want to install it yourself, you can buy their cloud service instead.

    > I prefer to follow daily impulses instead of waiting for the motivation to tackle the Most Important Thing.

What about folks who could almost endlessly procrastinate and never get the urge to work on something? Personally, i think that having a fair bit of discipline and forcing yourself to do the necessary things is needed in most pursuits.

Of course, i agree with TODO lists not always being good, but in my case it's mostly because i haven't found that many fast and functional solutions for organizing my tasks. Some of the ones that are almost suitable:

      - OpenProject ( https://www.openproject.org/ )
  • Project Management for OpenLongTrails is now on Trello!

In the future, if/when OLT project outgrows the Trello free tier, I'd like to move to self-hosted Openproject.org, but it seems excessive for current needs, and involves running an additional server 24/7.

Is there any info on how this would help with estimation and planning of a large number of tasks. E.g. "what can we get done this quarter?"

I have an eye on https://www.openproject.org/ because it seems to have these sort of features. I currently use Excel for this.
