Also if anyone knows of any third-party templates for Jigsaw, I can't find any except the default blog and docs that they have in their documentation.

I also would argue that the majority of code I see in other languages is equally or worse than the example you gave.
You can write terribly in any language, Laravel included.

How I Created a Web Presence as a Web Developer
Now, as for what runs the site. It is a static site, using Jigsaw as the framework. Jigsaw uses Laravel’s blade templating. Since one of my goals this year is to learn Laravel, it was the perfect fit for my site. GitHub is where I've decided to store my repos, and Netlify watches for changes to my main branch and rebuilds my site.

You can also use Pro locally and in dev, without paying...also technically for production internal .local business sites but that's a little against the spirit of the license. And they are pretty clear and transparent with their licensing and phoning home (which only happens while using the admin panel)...it's a not secret or sneaky: https://statamic.dev/licensing ....you can even inspect exactly what's in the data package since you can read the code openly: https://github.com/statamic/cms/blob/3.2/src/Licensing/Outpost.php ...and they've been known to work with folks where there are corporate restrictions and such.
