Bots are available in an unofficial API, and have been for quite awhile by just mimicking the website tokens. https://github.com/Snooful/Snooful
[PRAW] People PM my bot quite often (both regular PM and Reddit chat). Is there a way to auto-respond to them?

There are libraries that have done the reverse engineering for you. Snooful and here's one in python. PRAW mostly doesn't support it because no one's gone to the effort to add it, not that it's impossible.
