DirectX9 will even load the image for you, DirectX11 okay we get a few more structures to fill out, DirectX12 is where it goes off the rails and we are filling out a bunch of UNKNOWN DONT_CARE JUST_DO_IT. Then of course Vulkan is the one that gets the big fat "this probably won't actually work for you" warning.

ImGui is engine/GPU agnostic

AFAIK the Rust equivalent to C++'s Dear ImGui is egui.

They use a Dear ImGui, a C++ GUI library.

Aside from bugs and driver issues, Wayland has some unfortunate design limitations. For example, Dear ImGui multi-viewports don't work because "Wayland doesn't let application read or write windows positions."

This is a feature available on Windows, macOS, and of course X11. Making choices like this means desktop Linux becomes even more of a weird island that nobody wants to support.

Check this out - https://github.com/ggerganov/imtui - it's imgui for tui, and I guess one can compile it as wasm and run there!

Curses is the de facto TUI base, but there is no de facto standard C++ wrapper around curses. Google has FlatUI, FTXUI and Notcurses are popular, imtui is directly inspired by Dear ImGui. The list goes on and on, there are plenty of popular TUI libraries that all build upon Curses.

This can be as easy as wrapping a simple stdin/stdout loop with rlwrap, all the way to using full featured TUI libraries like bubbletea (golang), textual (python) or imtui (c++).

Second case is trickier. You probably want to check imtui or similar APIs.

I wouldn't call it standard, but https://github.com/ggerganov/imtui is pretty cool. It puts https://github.com/ocornut/imgui over ncurses.
