Correct. That would be the Trinity Wallet to receive the funds from Pionix. And then Firefly to do the migration to the new network. The funds will then show up in Firefly tomorrow and Trinity will have no use anymore.

If you'd rather avoid exchanges, then first you'll need to get a wallet. The official wallet made by the IOTA project is Trinity, so I recommend that. You can then use services like ChangeNOW to buy IOTA with a credit or debit card, and they'll send the IOTA directly to your wallet address.
