HedgeDoc VS richdocuments

Nice and simple. I feel the only lacking feature for a basic blog is having unlisted blog posts, which is very handy when you want to share it to proof-readers. This can be done on google doc/hedgedoc [0] for sure, but then when porting there are very often typos creeping in.

Maybe Hedgedoc will fit these needs? You can use markdown to format. https://hedgedoc.org/

If self-hosting is an option for you I would recommend that you go with HedgeDoc. Completely open source, you get all the features you asked for including real time collaboration.

You can give HedgeDoc (https://hedgedoc.org/) a try as a replacement for Google Docs.

It is the one that works best for concurrent editing IMO (but it is markdown which can be a problem for some)

I use one singular HedgeDoc document for that purpose. It's not exactly the same intent as Google Keep, but it's an awesome project I use anyway and fills the role perfectly for me personally.

HedgeDoc is a web-based, self-hosted, collaborative markdown editor. This open-source option allows a team to easily share ideas on notes, graphs and presentations in real-time. troubleshootmertr finds it a good option "for knowledgebase."

HedgeDoc [0] allows you to collaborate in markdown, and also create slides.

For writing Markdown documents I use Hedgedoc.

You should be able to do this with nextcloud Office: https://nextcloud.com/collaboraonline/ It’s basically like google docs, so med students should be pretty familiar with the look and feel.

I also looked at the documentation here https://github.com/nextcloud/richdocuments which has a section for Federated editing. It tells me that I need to update a tag called "frame_ancestors" but when I do and push the new coolwsd.xml file to the docker image, it attempts to restart the service and then fails to ever start it again, but then I'm not sure if that will really fix the problem or not.

Sorry I don't have an answer, but I'm curious how you installed nextcloud office 5? I've tried to research this on several occasions and from what I've read it sounded like "nextcloud office" is just collabora online but rebranded somehow, and I couldn't find instructions on how to install anything other than collabora. The nextcloud/office repo has a link named "Nextcloud office" in the readme that directs to nextcloud/richdocuments repo, where the readme describes it as an app to integrate collabora online, and the about describes it as "collabora online for nextcloud" with a link to nextcloud.com/collaboraonline

Collabora seems to be a leading competitor for real-time document editing, you can see it bundled into Nextcloud Hub here: https://nextcloud.com/collaboraonline/

I solved it. It turns out https://nextcloud.com/collaboraonline/ left an outdated guide for nginx reverse proxy as they changed lool to cool (see my post i have updated it with solved link)

A self-hosted solution like, say, Nextcloud Collabora, or some FOSS groupware software, unless you also hate paying for hosting and maintaining a server.
