Nhost is an open source Firebase alternative with GraphQL backed by GitHub's founders
It is self-hostable. Many do host the same stack using Hasura Backend Plus. We just have not put in the work to write proper documentation for it yet. But it will come! :)

Is there any GitHub repo for a blog with dynamic images (where a user uploads photos) with NextJS?
next-s3-upload will get you most of the way there on the photo uploads and storage (using an S3 bucket). The example/demo is an image upload. You could then combine that with any sample next.js blog UI, including the ones in their official examples.

Also, if you interested in uploading to an S3 bucket I made an addon for Next.js to make the whole upload process a bit easier. This addon won't help you with base64, but it will help you with uploading to buckets :)
