I want to make a website for myself
Honestly, I've had a great experience with Hakyll for static site generation. There's a bit of a learning curve to effectively use the library/framework, but in my opinion the learning curve is much lower than Yesod/Fay. If all you need is to build static website pages, I'd suggest Hakyll.

I did a thing : Hakyll with Internationalization;
Hi there. A friend of mine wanted to publish a blog/site at both French and English. I told him about static generators and Hakyll from u/jaspervdj but the internationalization piece was missing. Of course there are other generators with internationalization but... Well here is one for Hakyll. * Generator source code * Use case and its source code --- If it already exists, please hide that fact from me. If not and if you enjoy it, please use it at will. There is a public docker image at registry.gitlab.com/swi18ng/swi18ng:latest for quick testing purpose if needs be (don't forget to add -e LANG=C.UTF8 if you use some special characters). And of course, don't hesitate to give me some feedback. This would be greatly appreciated! > P.

About GitLab and Pages by Safely Dysfunctional
This info is relevant because Hakyll application requires to be complied before it generates the pages, and the compilation process of Haskell is a pretty expensive (computationally saying). Although, the executable is incredible fast, due to great work made by the compiler. This processing cost will be discussed soon.

Static site generators to watch in 2021
Btw there is a static page generator utilizing pandoc directly: hakyll[1]. Since it's configuration is done via haskell source code file, you need to be willing to learn a bit of haskell though.

Ask HN: What is the best license type for my open source project?
Check out this license for example: https://github.com/tinacms/tinacms/blob/main/LICENSE
It's an Apache 2.0 license, but with adendums.
Would it be reasonable to say that I could fork their repo for own purposes, and argue in court that I was only familar with Apache 2.0, and not their modified terms?

Fastest way to get a great fast-loading site up?
Some common contenders are 11ty, hugo, astro, sveltekit (in SSG mode) etc... These can usually be hosted easily with netlify or vercel. These do not come with a CMS, so you may need to use a headless cms like ghost or wordpress (possible to run headless), or manage the content directly through markdown files, or use a cms like decapcms or tina that manages the files.

Lightweight, Free, Headless CMS to build with Vue for simple portfolio sites?
Something like Tina (https://tina.io/) is probably about as lightweight as it gets.

Ask HN: Simplest CMS for blog type website
Have a look at Tina CMS: it’s git based so you don’t have to worry about moving your content or having it locked up in a proprietary format. And it has good integration with nextjs so you can see what your changes would look like on the website in real time.

WIP: live previews while editing in Laravel Nova
A lot of the sites I build include long marketing' type pages. As much as I love working with Laravel, I find clients don't love long pages of endless input fields. I've played around a bit with things like Storyblok and TinaCMS and while the user experience is great they feel far away from the tools/frameworks I know and love. I also build some sites on Wordpress (using Sage Bedrock/Roots as it gives a Laravel-esqe experience) but I find it a huge time drain getting the Wordpress editor set up properly (i.e. so users can't break layouts).
