Very cool! Is this open-source? It would be cool to add a few sources to this (like https://hackage.haskell.org).

I used to see pandoc described as a "virus that makes people want to install Haskell", but I think someone must've figured out binary distribution.

The closest analogue to ZIO is probably the RIO monad + Has* type classes from https://hackage.haskell.org . /package/rio . (But ZIO is a bit richer with the typed error channel.)

So I was working on this tool pysearch.com for doing deep semantic searches of python docs by program analysis inferred functionality when I noticed that every library's docs seem to be in a different format hosted in a different source. This would be fine if there was also a standard format hub for all the libraries on pypi or something, but it looks like even readthedocs doesn't contain everything. I find this a bit odd given the existence of tools like pydoc for doing something like this locally. Originally, I was hoping to find something like hackage for haskell, as I was hoping to build a natural language version of hoogle. In the meantime I've gotten pysearch to work by setting up custom rules for each doc, but this is kinda unsustainable.

The other source of haskell documentation is hackage, which features both libraries and higher-level GHC modules. Using hoogle (!hoogle or !hgl in DDG), you can search these docs by module name, function name, or even type signature.

Here the command is git and args is an array — [“clone”, origin, pkg.dir]. Install function basically clones the packages that are public repositories in the CodeMirror organization. Executing the commands programattically reminds me of two related concepts: 1. [Execa](https://www.npmjs.com/package/execa) 2. [Degit](https://github.com/Rich-Harris/degit)

I do remember seeing "degit" mentioned in one of the Readmes in the open source, but I could not recall which repository it was so I googled what a degit means and found this degit npm package.

But what I'd like to do at this point to tie a bow on the whole thing, once you've made any customizations you feel necessary, is commit the whole thing as a degit template. This will help you reuse your template across many happy projects in the future!

Here I am using degit to bootstrap our Ember app since the ember-cli doesn't allow you to create a new Ember app in the name of app.

Instead of starting from the idea of adopting a monorepo, you probably want to start from your pain points and work backwards from there. Standardizing on initial setup can be done w/ scaffolding tools (e.g. degit). Standardizing on configuration can be done w/ libraries (we do this for eslint, jest, etc). After-the-fact alignment can be done w/ codemods (e.g. jscodeshift) and PR tracking tools (IIRC sourcegraph has an offering like this).

Tools like yeoman, degit, and cargo generate kept me happy for years. They add basic templating capabilities to the standard git clone but they stop there. You’ll be hard pressed to find tools that go beyond setting up a directory structure.
