Simple little wall mount for this old laptop
The HomeAssistant wormhole is a deep one, and the learning curve is steep. But it's definitely worth all the pain. I currently have all our lights, doors, blinds, robot vacuum, tv's, and 3d printer integrated with HA. Looks like there's already Wyze device support for HomeAssistant as well if you wanted to start before upgrading your devices, to see how you like it. Also, I don't know much about Wyze devices, but a majority of internet connected smart devices utilize a ESP32 board or similar. You can usually flash them and run open firmware such as WLED. I currently run a few of those boards with DHT22 temp/humidity sensors to get the temp readings you saw. Like I said, the wormhole is deep, the learning curve is steep, but I think it is by far the best option when it comes to smart homes.

Advice needed: portainer, home automation and backup solution
As for home automation, I think you meant home assistant, if not correct me. I found this through a quick search: https://github.com/JoshuaMulliken/ha-wyzeapi. Might be helpful.

I'm Wyze VP of Product Steve McIrvin - AMA!
I haven't had much experience with it but you could give https://github.com/JoshuaMulliken/ha-wyzeapi which is an add on for home assistant which allows you to unofficially control / view cameras. Of course if wyze goes offline or your network goes offline this extension won't work as it's cloudbased.

My Smart Home Dashboard
Gotta love open source, here ya go. Seems like it'll integrate with the cameras and lights, and at least normal doors. If there as an API for it, there's probably and HA integration for it.

Can you use wyze cams without a smartphone?
I would recommend checking out a few YouTube videos on how to setup home assistant with a raspberry pi. Once that is setup, you can use the Wyze integration ( https://github.com/JoshuaMulliken/ha-wyzeapi) to setup some native stuff but you will need to install the custom RTSP software (https://support.wyze.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026245231-Wyze-Cam-RTSP) on the camera and set it up with your home assistant.

FYI: AWS West-2 is down causing disruption to Wyze services.
I'm using the user created Wyze API for HA, and it's great! But still doesn't work when the cloud is unresponsive. (https://github.com/JoshuaMulliken/ha-wyzeapi)

I've been building an app to support my Hues and all my other lights with one single app and would love feedback on what to focus on next.
I'd love to support wyze! They unfortunately don't provide a web client or a local API I can hook into, so I'd have to go a route similar to the reverse engineered SDKs around there, IE: https://github.com/shauntarves/wyze-sdk I'll reply here if I ever do get Wyze support running, they're pretty high on the list of devices that I want to support, no matter the time sink.

Formerly happy Wyze user.... who may be having basic issues
If you're up for getting your hands dirty, I can confirm that you can use https://github.com/shauntarves/wyze-sdk with Python to pull video from Wyze cams. I was doing it for a while with a Discord bot, it would pull video from my fish tank cameras and then convert them to gifs and drop them in the server. I highly recommend learning Python, it's amazing. You can do stuff with most of the Wyze stuff as well, change the color on lightbulbs, etc.. all much faster than the standard Wyze app.

Automating a Bluetooth light using Python and Home Assistant
I tend to prefer Wyze for smart home stuff, there's a freaking awesome unofficial SDK for it here - https://github.com/shauntarves/wyze-sdk
