Ask HN: What GNOME Shell extensions do you use?
I'm currently using 4 extensions.
system-monitor (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/120/system-monitor/). It is nice to see my CPU and memory usage at a glance with some history. I don't look too often but it can be good for understanding how builds are progressing, check that my software is utilizing parallelism well and see when things are in an infinite loop gobbling RAM.
Clipboard History (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/4839/clipboard-histor...)
I can't live without a clipboard manager, this seems to do a decent job.
Bing Wallpaper (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1262/bing-wallpaper-c...)
I don't see my wallpaper often but when I open the menu or log in it is nice to have a new beautiful picture.
AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/615/appindicator-supp...)
I like icons in my toolbar.
- Tray icons looking bad
-
Using extensions to improve Gnome workflow
- Pop Shell for i3-like tiling (fuck stacking) _remove from store (?)_- Workspace indicator by open apps: I need to know what's in my dynamic workspaces, not just a simple indicator or number _little ad, developed by me_- AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support for tray icons (background apps)
-
What are your must-have extensions?
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/615/appindicator-support/ – it's literally must have (and IMO should be preinstalled by all user-friendly distros) since some major apps cannot work without it.

Xfce is undefeatable
No. Either you're terribly confused what systray icons are or you just forgot that you use https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/615/appindicator-support/

Ubuntu Flavors Decide to Drop Flatpak
Install your choice of extension for systray app icons (I like AppIndicator / KStatusNotifier)

Added Bluetooth Quick Toggle Functionality to the quick-settings Extension from Florian Müllner by adding code from the extension gnome-bluetooth-quick-connect from bjarosze. All code is theirs, I just moved stuff around really. Maybe added a line or 2.
You should really make a pull request to the [bluetooth-quick-connect extension](https://github.com/bjarosze/gnome-bluetooth-quick-connect) so bjarosze can add it to the next release with gnome 43 support!

How to streamline sound and bluetooth settings?
Thanks that's perfect. Parent got deleted for some reason; here's their original link, which is the other piece of my puzzle: https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1401/bluetooth-quick-connect/ https://github.com/bjarosze/gnome-bluetooth-quick-connect

My "Gnomintosh" setup. Guide in comments.
Bluetooth Quick Connect Allows you to connect bluetooth paired devices from the notification center. Even shows connected devices' battery information similar to OSX (currently experimental). https://github.com/bjarosze/gnome-bluetooth-quick-connect

The best GNOME shell extensions
Bluetooth Quick Connect adds a toggle for bluetooth devices in the GNOME bluetooth menu. It works as expected and it’s insane to me that this functionality isn’t built into Gnome. Works on 40 and 3.38 Gnome Extensions | GitHub
