Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Git Branches: Intuition and Reality
I agree that git is almost asking you to juggle commits.
My preference is to use temporary branches and cherry-picking instead of stashing; I mostly use a gui* to work with git so it is easy to select the two or three commits to cherry-picking or see visually if an interactive rebase would work.

Git Merge – The Definitive Guide
I use Git Extensions myself as I find the git interface very straight forward, however they still have this fucking insane and frustrating issue: In the mergetool "Theirs" and "Mine" are swapped

IT Pro Tuesday #251 - Git UI, Fiber Training, Infosec News & More
Git Extensions is a more-intuitive way to manage your Git repositories in Windows. Its standalone interface serves as an effective, CLI-free means to control Git. Preferred by namtab00, because "SourceTree hides and shortcuts too much git functionality."

How do you work on the same project when you're in between two PC's in a day?
If you're on Windows, I'd start with installing official Git. It comes with a Git Bash CLI and what not. There are also third party apps like GitExtensions and TortoiseGit if you want more UI/shell integration.

Learning git as a beginner
Everyone's going to downvote this, but I prefer the GUI over the command-line. I use http://gitextensions.github.io/

Coolest projects, GO!
https://github.com/gitextensions/gitextensions/releases/tag/v2.51.05 - nice little ui for working with git. unfortunately, v2.51.05 is the last version that I can confirm works under mono (it was the last 2.x version and they completely rewrote the code from scratch in the 3.x series. My understanding was that it lost Linux compatibility at that point).

Is using Git difficult or am I just plain stupid?
Git is arcane as it is powerful. Consider using a UI like Git Extensions to get better visualizations / understanding of what's going on.
One thing that's not immediately clear is that git is the same no matter what git client you're using - so if you're struggling to remember the commands and syntax and all that, don't be afraid to use a git tool with a UI to make it a bit easier. I really like Git Extensions as a free, open source GUI for git but others swear by the likes of Git Kraken and Sublime Merge.

NotepadNext – a cross-platform, reimplementation of Notepad++
honest question - why was there a need to start a new repo? Would you be ok to merge yours with notepad++'s official repo[0]. Did this cross your mind before and what happened?
Not saying that they would allow but it'd help the community as a whole with less duplication of work and deliver more features.

Notepad on Windows 11 is finally getting a character count
If you sling text around regularly, why not treat yourself to a decent text editor? Both Notepad++ (Windows) and Notepadqq (Linux) are free, open-source, and a hell of a lot netter than Notepad.

Creating a 'Proper Nouns' List
The most common way I use it is to right click a note and open a note in the default app which I have set .MD to open in Notepad++ which is a text editor with regex search/replace.
-
I wrote my bibliography manually (Dont ask why). How do I sort it by the first letter of each entry?
you sort the lines with a good text editor. Notepad++ for example has a function Edit -> Line Operations -> Sort Lines Lexicographically Ascending / Descending. In Emacs you mark the block and run M-x sort-lines. In vim, you mark the block and run :sort.
-
What’s your preferred way to run Windows apps on Mac?
I’ve always used Windows, but am thinking about switching to macOS since I already have an iPhone and iPad. My biggest concern is that some of the apps I sometimes use only work with Windows, such as Notepad++. I also use some Minecrsft utilities such as MCCToolChest, or Open Note Block Studio.

I need help with Modded Mayors
Now, use a text editor like Notepad++ to help you edit the XML. Although the TAB files lack a correct starting tag to identify them as XML, once you choose that language in Notepad++, you will get coloured syntax highlighting and can Fold All levels and then only unfold the ones you want to work on (I suggest using the powerful search feature to jump you to where you want to be).
-
Is there any reason to not use VS Code when learning python?
Don't agonize over your text editor when you are learning. if it has line numbers and syntax highlighting, go ahead and use it. Notepad++, VSCodium, Sublime, VSCode, gedit, nano, vim or any other text editor will do fine.
