Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.
Has anyone else seen this bizarre trend of developers refusing to use Git GUIs because they wanna 'git gud' at using the CLI?
reddit.com/r/ExperiencedDevs | 2021-09-21
I can't recommend GitExtensions enough. It's a very good UI tool that maps the CLI commands 1 to 1 for the most part. In fact, whenever you do something through the UI, it opens up a console where it shows you the command it just run. I think it's a very good way to learn GIT: UI to see the tree in front of you, but you also see the commands. By default I see at all times the tree, the diff of the last commit and/or the console where I can just type in my commands, it's smooth. http://gitextensions.github.io/
Git Commands Explained with Cats (2017)

I am an amateur dev who, for the last 10 years, is using 3 git commands with fingers crossed (because my only "git expert" is StackOverflow).
GitExtensions vastly improved my life. It is a wonderful program.
Issue with using Git with Visual Studio 2012 on Windows 10

In that case, I would suggest using git outside of Visual Studio with a GUI client such as GitExtensions.

Unsure about how to push my c# code to github

If you have to stay with Visual Studio 2015, try Git Extensions, which can be integrated with Visual Studio and also can be used as a standalone application.

https://gitextensions.github.io/ I've used sourcetree (for years) and gitahead, gitextensions is far, far better and allows more direct control over things without going to the command line.
SDL moving to GitHub

Git Extensions is supposed to be good but I have no personal experience, I basically only use git and tig. GitKraken has a lot of mindshare but it's the only other client I'll proactively warn against, on account of being proprietary software that's completely unimaginative and built by a company that has pulled some questionable licensing moves in the past.

Godot Error: _area_enter_tree: Condition "!E" is true.
reddit.com/r/godot | 2021-10-16
Thanks for looking into this. So to specify (I updated the post above) this is for 3d. The console does point me to line 310 in https://github.com/godotengine/godot/blob/ffbda6ef79744b423d638ce6e80e04176af9b84d/scene/3d/area.cpp, and the code is basically identical to the 2d counterpart. I'll look into reproducing this on it's own and opening a github issue with that project. Thanks again.

Is there a way to bind mouse 4/5 to "previous script" and "next script"?

It's already backported for 3.x (it's included since 3.4.beta6).
Continuous Collision Detection has been broken for nearly four and a half years

There is a tracker for physics issues: https://github.com/godotengine/godot/issues/45334 (and 3D in another issue). Most of it (if not all) is going to be addressed before 4.0 stable. pouleyKetchoupp is the main person fixing physics right now. You could ask him about priorities on the developer chat.reddit.com/r/godot | 2021-10-14
This post is a frustrated rant. I am aware that this is a known issue that's on the todo list. My concern, then, is that the absence of functioning CCD is seen as a "bug" rather than a "critical feature deficit". I don't know how many games are stuck in their development pipelines for want of voxel-based global illumination, but I feel like that number is probably substantially lower than the number of games in which a small, fast moving object is expected not to phase through thin walls.

What's the best game-engine for making RPG games with Python?
reddit.com/r/gamedev | 2021-10-13
If you want a "proper engine" where you can use Python, as far as I know, your only option is Godot. You can use actual Python in the Godot Engine through an addon, but from what I can see, this isn't really a good solution because it breaks a lot. Your other option is to use the native GDScript, which is very Python-like. If you already know Python, you'll be up and running on GDScript within a day or two.
Godot 4.0 node name changes
reddit.com/r/godot | 2021-10-12
While I like the idea of opt-in settings to ease transition from 3.x to 4.0, I feel like doing this for node names may bring more trouble than it solves. Not only there are a lot of corner cases to cater for, but it can also introduce confusion for people reading documentation if they work on a project where the setting was enabled. (Remember that publicly available/team projects may enable this setting without new users noticing at the first place.)
