Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

On the other hand, this is a shellscript under 1000 lines. It won't work in a general case (obvious example: try writing some JSON into a commit message), but at least it's straightforward.

There is no library there, it's just a collection of separate components, the only difference there is that their collection is split into different github repositories, I could have done the same, but I chose to put them all into the same github repository.
