I setup pivpn on my pihole. https://pivpn.io/ I installed the wireguard app on my android and iOS devices and they’re connected to my pihole using the wireguard vpn protocol anywhere that allows UDP connections. sSadly my employer doesn’t so I had to manually set my dns to use nextdns.io for my dns to block ads at work.

Would recommend you close that off immediately, and set yourself up behind a VPN. You can purchase an inexpensive Raspberry Pi, and set up PiVPN

I could also have configured the remote nas to connect to my own vpn server (running rapsbian on a raspberry pi using https://pivpn.io vpn server whichboffers ipenvpn or wireguard) but as I already switched from openvpn (which synology supports natively) to wireguard, that option wasn't easily possible (might maybe also have a docker solution or via https://github.com/runfalk/synology-wireguard which also deals with having to start things manually on dsm7 as no longer 3rd party services are allowed to be started), hence I stayed with Zerotier.

I am using a pi 3b with raspbian on it, deploying the https://pivpn.io script on it. That gives the choice of either openvpn or the more lightweight wireguard vpn server.

You sure can set up a vpn These guys https://pivpn.io/ make it really easy to set up. Downside is you’ll have to first connect to the vpn in order to use nextcloud. But you get extra security.

Get. Raspberry Pi and install pivpn. This will allow you to tunnel into your parent house as iff you were on the local network. Now that you can see that traffic, run scrcpy. This will allow you to control the shield remotely.
