Skiff is shutting down in six months
Have you seen our service yet? You might not have since we don't focus on ads/marketing too much; we've been dedicated to high-quality product efforts.
Our service is called Forward Email (https://forwardemail.net) and it's so easy to use we use it ourselves (dogfood style).
Although we don't have mail clients yet, we fully support Thunderbird and any other email client (e.g. K-9 Mail, FairEmail, Apple Mail, Outlook, Gmail, etc).
Our FAQ is extensive at https://forwardemail.net/faq and we walk you through set up, which is tailored to you based off your specific registrar/DNS provider. We also have instructions for SPF/DMARC/DKIM and more, so that you land in the inbox.
Lastly, unlike everyone else, we're actually 100% open-source on GitHub at https://github.com/forwardemail

Skiff Is Joining Notion
See our service at https://forwardemail.net - we're actually 100% open-source (unlike everyone else that says they're open-source, but actually only has the front-end published). We're a great alternative and you can bring any mail client you want (e.g. Thunderbird).

Google will disable all but OAuth for IMAP, SMTP and POP starting Sept. 30
Thanks for your feedback. We've updated our home page at https://forwardemail.net and added a dedicated link/section in our FAQ for "What is Forward Email" at https://forwardemail.net/faq#what-is-forward-email.

Skiff: Various Privacy Failures
Forward Email team here (https://forwardemail.net), we have a write-up and comparison @ https://forwardemail.net/en/blog/docs/best-quantum-safe-encr...
We've considered adding a E2EE comparison column as well (with the issues such @ http://jfloren.net/b/2023/7/7/0 highlighted).
Privacy Guides Discussion @ https://discuss.privacyguides.net/t/forward-email-email-prov...
Unlike Skiff, Proton, and Tuta... we're _actually_ 100% open-source. Those providers that advertise as open-source really only open-source the front-end, when the back-end is the most sensitive part of an email service.

Using forwardemail.net to forward fully hosted email
Has anyone used forwardemail.net to forward fully hosted email? I started using Hey for my gmail accounts and like it and want to fold in my Dreamhost email accounts but unfortunately that option doesn't exist for fully hosted anymore. I think I can use it but this is not my area of expertise.
-
What registrar are you using to host your domain?
https://forwardemail.net/ to allow me to forward various emails from all my domains to my paid Outlook account (that has various folders and filters setup).

How can I use my Gmail address as masking mail?
Can I use forwardemail.net with my Gmail account?
-
LPT: Add +companyname to your email address when registering for anything e.g. [email protected]. Your email address will work as normal but you will know who leaked your data when you receive scams / spam. You're welcome!

What happened to the author of forwardemail.net?
Bottom of https://github.com/forwardemail/free-email-forwarding links to his website which redirects to a defunct GitHub account

Ask HN: Any Experience with ForwardEmail, Pobox and SimpleLogin?
Hello HNers,
I'm looking forward to have more "ownership" of my digital identity, and I want to start by controlling the domain of my e-mail addresses.
Been searching possible solutions and I think an e-mail forwarding service is a pretty good middleground, so I can keep my Gmail / Outlook accounts active while also being able to create "identities" on the fly.
It has come down to three different services:
homebridge-messenger

Create a personal/home automation hybrid? - I Want a Home switch to trigger a personal automation on my phone. But it seems like the two aren’t talking to each other… the personal has no trigger from Home status, and Home doesn’t have the option to control my phone.
One way I may be able to achieve that is with HomeBridge messenger sending an email as email are a trigger to personal automations. From there I’m looking to make a dedicated automation email address. I can even use different subjects to trigger different automations. I’ll report back when I have it implemented.

Create Homebridge notifications
Big fan of https://github.com/potrudeau/homebridge-messenger (which yes, includes a Pushover option among others)
-
Can Siri open the door for me?
The only thing I can think of is using homebridge-messenger to send yourself an email which then triggers an automation. But I think that might be too slow for a situation like that.
-
Is it possible to integrate the Xiaomi Standing Fan 2 Lite in HomeKit?
And after Setup, try also this plugin: https://github.com/nfarina/homebridge-dummy#readme it’s enabling so much automations, it’s crazy. Or: https://github.com/potrudeau/homebridge-messenger together with Pushover - pushover is a 5$ one time purchase and after that you can send push notifications as you like.
-
My dilemma: is HA worth setting up when I have all HK native devices and no coding experience?
For example, I use a homebridge plugin like homebridge-messenger (https://github.com/potrudeau/homebridge-messenger) to create a couple of homekit virtual switches that will trigger an IFTTT applet with webhook. The IFTTT applet will send the push notification. Then it's just a matter of creating a homekit automation that triggers the correct virtual switch when certain condition is met (like in your case the weather drops/rise to certain degree).
-
How to simulate urgent notifications?
I used https://github.com/potrudeau/homebridge-messenger
-
Trying to add IFTTT notification - can’t figure it out
It's not free, but the iOS pushover app ($5) works decently with the homebridge messenger plugin (don't edit config.json directly but use the plugin Settings button to configure it).
-
HomeBridge Pushover Plug-in - nearly there!
Ah, there is already a pushover plugin -- it's a part of Homebridge Messenger: https://github.com/potrudeau/homebridge-messenger
-
Pushover is an excellent complement to automations!
Agreed. I use Pushover with Homebridge Messenger and the setup is pretty straightforward: https://github.com/potrudeau/homebridge-messenger.
What are some alternatives?
docker-mailserver - Production-ready fullstack but simple mail server (SMTP, IMAP, LDAP, Antispam, Antivirus, etc.) running inside a container.
action-send-mail - :gear: A GitHub Action to send an email to multiple recipients
nuxt-mail - Adds email sending capability to a Nuxt.js app. Adds a server route, an injected variable, and uses nodemailer to send emails.
dump1090-monitor - Monitor the dump1090 JSON feed and call webhooks based on the content
aws-lambda-ses-forwarder - Serverless email forwarding using AWS Lambda and SES
homebridge-broadlink-rm - Broadlink RM Mini and Pro plugin for homebridge: https://github.com/nfarina/homebridge
mailway - Mailway installer, host your own Mailway instance
homebridge-smart-irrigation - Turn any electrical irrigation valve into a smart-valve.. or run your pumps on a smart schedule based on your climate! This homebridge plugin exposes a multi-zone irrigation sprinkler dummy control system to Apple's HomeKit. Although a dummy, it brings smarts of an evapotranspiration based climate and plant adaptive irrigation controller with the use of OpenWeatherMap API. The plugin can optionally email you, and/or send you push notifications through Pushover or Pushcut, with the watering schedule it has calculated, or when a watering run is completed, along with the next 7-day weather forecast. Added option to expose system controls to Homekit allowing a user to enable/disable irrigation, rechecks, push and email notifications from within the Home App. Associated WaterLevel Characteristic shows the % of watering cycle remaining.
maildev - :mailbox: SMTP Server + Web Interface for viewing and testing emails during development.
docker-gocryptfs - https://github.com/rfjakob/gocryptfs in docker
Mail-in-a-Box - Mail-in-a-Box helps individuals take back control of their email by defining a one-click, easy-to-deploy SMTP+everything else server: a mail server in a box.
