Is Ethereum's network traffic fully centralized, or am I wrong?
MetaMask provides an extension to add a wallet feature to your browser so that you can interact with dapps. This was the first project to provide this feature back in the day, but it's now quite outdated; A much better alternative would be Frame. A wallet needs an RPC node to talk to, and a new user doesn't want to have to worry about this, so MetaMask uses Infura as their default. But you can go into settings and change it, either to your own node or to a node hosted by someone else.

Just wanted to install frame.sh as a new web3 wallet. It tells me to add "frame companion" to Edge, it warns me about:
-
What tools do you use in crypto?
Frame Wallet does a few things Rabby doesn't and also supports hardware wallets but lacks the contact security check.
-
which wallet do you use any why?
https://frame.sh is a great desktop client and can inject as MM for interoperability.

MetaMask alternatives?
I've been digging "Frame" recently (https://github.com/floating/frame). It has a little bit of an initial learning curve if you're coming from something like Metamask, but you get the hang of it fairly quickly, and it's quite a bit more flexible and security oriented than MetaMask.
-
Metamask will now collect your IP adress. What are your options?
I'm using Frame now. It can provide a MetaMask-like API that is mostly compatible with web sites that don't support its own protocol. It's GPL3 licensed and provides a good bunch of configurability out of the box.

Building an e-ink picture frame that displays an iCloud photo album
> They don't offer an appropriate API to get photos out.
There's this: https://developer.apple.com/documentation/photokit "The framework provides access to photos on the person’s device and in iCloud."
If you want to use undocumented APIs on non-Apple devices directly, there are projects like https://github.com/steilerDev/icloud-photos-sync and https://github.com/icloud-photos-downloader/icloud_photos_do... that appear to be able to do this.
- I have an extra pi4 I’m mailing to my parents to create a cloud drive for their home since they’re privacy sensitive. What’s the easiest way to make the pi read/writeable from their iPhones at home?

Self-hosted photo and video backup solution directly from your mobile phone
I use https://github.com/icloud-photos-downloader/icloud_photos_do... running on my NAS to regularly download photos from my wife's iCloud account. The photos are stored in full resolution on iCloud with the EXIF data, unlike Google Photos, so that's nice. The only annoyance is that you need to reauthorize the tool every three months. But it sends you a reminder when the time is coming up.

The iPhone Setting Thieves Use to Lock You Out of Your Apple Account
To avoid future data lose, you can backup all your icloud photos locally. Checkout icloud_photos_downloader[1], they have a docker container that is drop-dead simple to use. I run this[3] about once a month, I could probably automate it, but that feel like it'll take more time than it'll save[2].
