Platform issues which disadvantage Firefox compared to first-party browsers
When Mozilla launched Focus for iOS in 2016, Apple had two WebKit implementations on iOS. Focus was implemented with UIWebView (slower, with more extensive content blocking capabilities), while Firefox was implemented with WKWebView (faster, with limited content blocking capabilities).[1]
Focus was Mozilla's way of offering Tracking Protection on iOS in some form without slowing down the performance of its main Firefox for iOS app. In addition to blocking ads within the Focus browser itself, Focus also provided iOS content blockers, which ironically (due to iOS content blockers being exclusive to Safari) allowed Focus users to block ads in Safari but not in Firefox for iOS.[2]
Focus migrated to WKWebView in 2017 after iOS 11 bridged WKWebView's feature gap, allowing Focus to retain its Tracking Protection feature through the transition.[3] With Firefox and Focus both on WKWebView, Mozilla then ported Tracking Protection to Firefox for iOS in 2018.[4] Tracking Protection improved Firefox for iOS, but could not be as comprehensive as the Safari-exclusive content blockers.
By that time, Mozilla had already launched Focus for Android in 2017 even though Firefox for Android already had the ability to block ads more comprehensively with extensions.[4] As a privacy-focused secondary browser, Focus was a niche app that turned out to be well-received by users, and Mozilla probably did not have a good reason to discontinue it even after Firefox for iOS gained Tracking Protection.

Hacktoberfest Progress Week 1-2
I started with two issues later this week. Both of them were from the focus-ios application. Firefox Focus is a free and open-source privacy-focused mobile browser from Mozilla, available for Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. Focus-ios. I wanted to make progress with this application. I dug in and found two issues in which I would have thought to be working in. issue #1,[issue #1.1](https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/focus-ios/issues/2566. Another project, I worked on is which is a website to adopt pets. Website Link I worked on a small part of this project issue #2, but learn how to use react and yarn npm module to run and develop web applications.

Google Removed ClearURLs Extension from Chrome Web Store
I use Firefox Focus on mobile which lets you reset your entire browser and cookie history with one click. It also has some built-in tracking protection and content blocking.
While it doesn’t solve the issue of add-ons, it has enough of a privacy focus to make me feel better about reducing my footprint on the mobile.
It’s a pity that development is not as active as it used to be, but looks like Firefox are still supporting the project [1]

How to block YT ads like a champ
The extension with the best success rate seems to be **uBlock Origin**. It is a community driven project with a team of volunteers, you can review the source code [here](https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock). You will need to update your filter lists regularly, this because Youtube changes detection methods daily. Here is how you do that:

Show HN: Bedframe – open-source Browser Extension Development framework
Definitely a much-needed area for development. However, having gone down the browser extension rabbit hole, I've largely shifted my focus to user scripts. Granted, there will always be a need for specialized browser extensions like ad blockers (uBlock[1]), keyboard shortcuts (Vimium-C[2]), and password managers (Bitwarden[3]).
That said, I find user scripts superior for most tasks, despite some lacking UI niceties. They are easier to share, use, and crucially, audit—be it in terms of scope, permissions, or code updates. Plus if Manifest V3 is any indicator, the future for browser extensions looks bleak. While I don't agree with this direction, it's probably for the best for the majority of users, like my mom.
Your effort is commendable; however, should you find yourself looking for a viable pivot in the future, I believe the user script space is primed for innovation and could offer a good alternative.

Chrome refuses to load any website if uBlock Origin is turned on
https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/wiki/Toolbar-icon - Says when it's loading settings and filters it will be yellow. Says exclamation mark means network requests were fired before ubo was ready to filter, meaning some ads etc might come through.
-
What’s a piece of software that doesn’t get enough coverage?
uBlock Origin a very efficient browser extension that blocks ads and more. Been using it for years and recommend it! https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock
- Is it possible to search my active uBlock Origin Filter Lists for a particular site?

uBlock Origin 1.50.* announcement thread
In some cases, installation may be blocked until browser restart. This is protection against accidental mid-session reloads, Issue #717.
-
uBlock Origin 1.50.0 released
Nowhere in there does he says it disappeared. He edited a previous comment saying it went away, problem with such random report instead of very carefully going through systematic steps is that it's easy to make mistake. For all I know the section might have been collapsed and he overlooked this. Anyway, reproducible issues have to reported at https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBlock-issues/issues, and in there we ask people to be thorough so as to eliminate mistakes.
-
why do I constantly need to refresh Chrome to get pages to load properly?
Adblock is an old, outdated, sellout adblocker, use uBlock Origin instead, I don't guarantee this will fix the problem you're facing but it is something you should address anyway.
