1 project | reddit.com/r/flutterhelp | 2 Dec 2021
Hello I'm trying to recreate an old custom checkbox that uses RenderToggleable. This custom checkbox has a BoxConstraints when it's rendered. I was wondering where I could add this in a custom checkbox that's very similar to flutter's checkbox ? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Community fork of Cake wallet?
1 project | reddit.com/r/Monero | 1 Dec 2021
In the case of Flutter, one of the most prevalent such frameworks (and used by Cake Wallet if I remember correctly) Google fights for more than a full year already to get battery drain under control that occurs when ... can you believe it ... nothing else happens except that a cursor is blinking. See e.g. here.
WASM and PWA vs Flutter? Which would you place your bets on?

Flutter is a framework by Google that provides a number of compilation targets, web technologies being one of them. It's basically a common abstraction layer (Dart) that devs can utilize for supporting multiple platforms at once. It's very likely that Flutter will be able to compile an app to an HTML/CSS/JS/WASM artifact in the near future, if it doesn't have that capability already. (Obviously it can already compile to HTML/CSS/JS.)
Flutter Starter Project, the Easy Way

But for those who don't, Flutter is an open source framework that we can use to build a natively compiled, cross-platform application with a single codebase. It's written in a brandnew language called dart.

Ah! I am brand new to learning flutter and was trying to change the Flutter channel with the command:
flutter channel master
And it kept failing with:
git: remote: Internal Server Error.
git: fatal: unable to access 'https://github.com/flutter/flutter.git/': The requested URL returned error: 500
Switching channels failed with error code 128.
thought I was doing something wrong and spent some time troubleshooting.

The camera is a common source of pain in native development, especially in Android, where the possible hardware and software range is too broad. camera package does a great job of abstracting over all these discrepancies and the somewhat cumbersome native Camera API, but there are some problems. For example, we ran into this issue and had to downgrade to version 0.8.1+7 for now.
Extreme load times when trying web dev.

Here is an issue that explains it better, if you look at the last comments the devs explain that it wasn't possible to cherry-pick de changes to stable 2.5 branch.

Invertase, the company bringing Firebase integration to Flutter, is working on FlutterFire for desktop. More specifically they are adding Linux and Windows support. MacOS is already (partially) supported. The interesting part is that they are building a universal SDK using Dart, which means that they could also move the existing platforms to use the same Dart SDK, while they are now using the existing SDKs available for each platform. They can keep to code separated by using federated plugins. It is still unknown when all the different services from Firebase will be ready for desktop, but it is good to know that they are working on it. The code is open source, so, if you like, you can contribute via the official repository.
Is flutter good for web development?
1 project | reddit.com/r/FlutterDev | 26 Oct 2021
For web apps like some sort of portal? Sure. For web sites like a blog? No. Also most Firebase packages will work but some will not. Here's the list. Although this is only the official Firebase packages. You may be able to find a work around.

See Migration Guide for updated Firebase plugins for Flutter. onMessageOpenedApp and onMessage returns Stream objects that emits the upcoming RemoteMessage messages. In RemoteMessage class, there are two important properties: notification and data. You don't have to access them with message['data'] or message['notification'] anymore. Take a look at the migration official example from FlutterFire team.

Managing multi-package Flutter projects with Melos
1 project | reddit.com/r/FlutterDev | 10 Jun 2021
If you mean Flutter packages that have native code then it is supported in Melos, since it's just a Dart package with extras. See [FlutterFire](https://github.com/FirebaseExtended/flutterfire) as an example - it uses Melos.

Noob Question: Is Flutter alone enough to make apps, or do I need to learn a back-end language like Python along with it ?

I'd recommend checking out Flutterfire if you are curious about working with both Flutter and Firebase.
