Nice! I kinda wish they went with https://flarum.org/ instead of discourse, though. I think Flarum is the better forum software and it is also open source.

Simple WYSIWYG html editor? Open source or cheap.
I've been playing around with a new open source forum called Flarum for my blog. It's a forum by nature but it has a blog extension and with some work you can get it to be just a blog that looks pretty nice. I just recently finished getting mine moved over (I rarely blog but here it is) - I'm not too sold on it yet either though so there's that.

The old PhpBB/VBulletin format has a certain familiar charm to it, but I find it hard to go back after using modern forum systems like Discourse that fix a lot of the old system's UX shortcomings.
Anyone have experience with Flarum (https://flarum.org)? I've been peripherally aware of it for years (it it looks like it's still quite active on GitHub) and it looks like a nice lighter-weight alternative to Discourse which I know gets some flak for being resource-heavy.

Excellent! Glad we could get you sorted! Hosting can be scary and it's okay to be afraid to touch things or not understand certain settings or terms. Especially if you're new. The key is to read the documentation. For your forum needs, this can be found at https://mybb.com and https://phpbb.com

I actually recommend myBB [0] over phpBB for anyone looking to set up a LAMP forum. It's cleaner, better written, and possibly better maintained and with a much less scary vulnerability history. I believe it started off as an attempt to create an OSS version of IPB (or was it vB?).

Would anyone be interested in joining a forum alongside this subreddit and discord server?
I'm thinking about diversifying how users can access CodingHelp by opening a forum. Either ran with MyBB, phpBB or XenForo (XF). This is something I would add in 2022 as I haven't even started looking into the 3 software platforms I would choose from. I know the differences from past experiences, but I haven't used them in years.
