Pair programming with ChatGPT - an unexpected path
My OS is Linux Ubuntu. My shell is fish and I love it (check out my dotfiles). It allows the creation of functions (a.k.a. aliases) very easily.

For part one, I noticed the input being almost valid Elm code, so I wrote a few lines of Fish to generate an Elm program. Then ran it with elm repl. Elm allows out of order variable declarations so it did all the work for me.

Turned the input into JavaScript (using Fish) by replacing noop with cycle() and addx with cycle(); cycle(); x+=, and then executing it.

Moreover, there are tools were made on top of those to provide more functionalities, and fill some of the gaps, for instance, oh-my-zsh, Prezto, oh-my-fish, and much more. However, the default embedded terminal in macOS is still lacking something. That's why iTerm and other terminal like Hyper. It provides you a set of customization to boost your productivity.

Upgrade your command line
The friendly interactive shell or fish is a really interesting shell that takes a modern approach to shell configuration. Similar to oh-my-zsh there is oh-my-fish for extending this shell with plugins. The only reason I haven't switched from zsh to fish is crippling laziness.

One still needs oh-my-fish, as one needs oh-my-zsh. So the setup time is 100% equal for fish and zsh.
