Loungy: An Application Launcher Written with GPUI, the Zed GPU UI Framework
I agree for 99% of extensions their model is amazing. And I wouldn't expect me to come up with a better one any time soon.
The problem is that I want to do more in my launcher. Two examples:
- I wasn't happy with the official bitwarden extension, because going through the clipboard and copy/pasting individual items felt cumbersome. They also only supported one vault even though I asked about this years ago [0]! In raycast I wrote my own bitwarden extension that hooked into Hammerspoon and used the AX spoon to autofill credentials. That felt very hacky though so in my own launcher I am using the accessibility API directly through swift-rs.
- I wanted to build my own keyboard centric matrix chat client into raycast. I got pretty far, but in the end I was just too limited by the available components. Also I discovered that once your extensions heap reaches 100 MiB, it just gets killed. That basically made it impossible to just load the matrix-sdk including crypto.
In the end I just didn't want to keep investing time in some proprietary software that doesn't allow me to do what I want to do :)
- Need help updating Alfred script to work with Arc instead of chrome.

Typeform Navigator: My Raycast Extension
The only pain point is publishing in on their storage because you need to create a pull request to their extensions repository.

Maccy is an open source lightweight and searchable clipboard manager for macOS
I'm not sure about what data it sends home, a lot of stuff I use with Raycast tend to be done locally.
also all extensions on the store are open sourced (https://github.com/raycast/extensions) so you could audit it yourself as well.

Integration/extension/plugin system in Nodejs
Hey, thanks for the reply! I'm talking about how it could be implemented using Node. I found this app (Raycast) that uses something similar to what I'm interested in implementing - here it seems that external developers can develop and push extensions to an npm repository in order to publish and use the extension in the program.
-
Open app links inside the app?
Hi, I'm a Raycast extension developer and saw your post, so I added the ability to open URL Scheme in Open Path extension. If you are a Raycat user, you can try the extension. (The current version doesn't open URL Scheme, I've submitted a PR for the new version and expect to review and update it in a week or two)

The only open source app you'll need for your Mac
Not sure if I'm missing something. The title says the app is open source, but checking GitHub, I see extensions and script-commands, and I don't think the "main" repo is there

Best Mac apps of the year 2021?
how they implemented extensions, this app is not sandboxed, so it has access to everything, and all the extensions are written in JavaScript with Node and NPM, and they also run in not sandboxed environment. More details at https://github.com/raycast/extensions/issues/200, I am sure Raycast team reviews those extensions
