After a month of research, I have yet to find a staking method that meets my requirements
Rennt a vps or dedicated server, use https://stereum.net to run your node.

Staking options for a smooth brained simpleton?
No need to trust a service, rent a vps somewhere and use something like https://stereum.net/
-
Stereum - Ethereum Node Manager - Update "2.0.0-rc.9"
🍄 Download at https://stereum.net/ or https://github.com/stereum-dev/ethereum-node/releases/tag/v2.0.0-rc.9

For those looking to spin up a new validator, is allnodes the best "least effort" way to stake? Are there other alternatives?
No competitor but you can use https://stereum.net/ and rent a vps somewhere. With allnodes you give them your keys.

Wanting to stake, in need of answers to my concerns
There are different approaches, there are guides like https://someresat.medium.com/ and node management software like https://stereum.net/ (disclaimer: I'm with Stereum). Stereum also got video + pic/text guides so you get an impression on how it works. Also, try with testnet first, regardless what guide/software you're about to use!

Super Frustrated. Trying to install Teku on Ubuntu. Can't figure out how to install it?
Unfortunately yes, because there are many linux distributions, windows, macos, different ways to install JDKs, different JDK licensing, etc. I'd suggest to follow a guide like https://someresat.medium.com/guide-to-staking-on-ethereum-ubuntu-teku-f09ecd9ef2ee or use software that takes care of everything like https://stereum.net/

Should I Become a Validator?
Yes it is - after you receive it you can use https://stereum.net/ to get up and running
-
Idiotproof staking wanted
Take a look at https://stereum.net/ there are guides for staking on AWS and other providers. Also possible to run on your own hardware at home.
-
Staking with Google Cloud Blockchain Node Engine
There are options available to run on VPS/servers with a GUI to stake, like https://stereum.net/

GitHub incident 2022-03-23
I think that parent means also things like CI, release repository, PR review, etc.
These are not easily portable, but honestly is because of this lock-in that I prefer to use separate/independent tools. For my open source project [0], I am putting things on github and it is the link that give to most people, but in reality is just a mirror to the gitlab repository[1], which I use for CI and static page hosting, and the "project management" is done on Taiga [2]

Pay with bats for online shops or other products.
If the former, I am working on a self-hosted payment gateway for Ethereum and ERC20 token. The documentation is outdated, but hopefully I will fix that in the coming days when I make a new release for it. I am mostly waiting for the next major release from Raiden which will bring layer-2 payments (zero cost, instant transfers) to any ERC20 token.
What are some alternatives?
turbo-geth - Ethereum implementation on the efficiency frontier
token-generator - Create a Token in less than a minute with the most trusted Smart Contract Generator for ERC20 and BEP20. No login. No setup. No coding required.
docker-elk - The Elastic stack (ELK) powered by Docker and Compose.
woodpecker - Woodpecker is a simple yet powerful CI/CD engine with great extensibility.

light-client - The Raiden Light Client
ethereum-node - Run an Ethereum node, solo stake ETH and connect dApps to your server with Stereum Ethereum Node Setup & Manager!
minerwrangler - A bundle of bash scripts to make headless crypto mining on linux a simple reality. Unfortunately only NVIDIA support for now.
besu - An enterprise-grade Java-based, Apache 2.0 licensed Ethereum client https://wiki.hyperledger.org/display/besu
