  • TypeScript. Advanced Project Setup
    4 projects | dev.to | 18 Jan 2022
Before taking the next steps in the direction of TypeScript, we will prepare a working environment according to all industry standards. We have already set up EditorConfig so that all the files we create comply with certain rules. ESLint is a code quality control tool. It allows you to describe a list of rules for formatting code, language constructs used, and so on. This allows you to write code in a single style. If these rules are not followed, the code will be underlined in the editor. You can also run the check from the console.

Maybe ESLint has a different opinion, otherwise I see no reason not to use this. Also. if you don’t use ESLint yet, there’s undoubtedly a plug-in for your IDE 🙂

  • Why did function syntax become “more complicated”?
    1 project | reddit.com/r/learnjavascript | 14 Jan 2022
The way most developers handle this is with a linter, specifically ESLint. A linter can enforce a consistent style across your code base, but more importantly it can reduce the amount of valid JavaScript. You really only want to worry about a subset of the syntax. A linter can automatically flag old stuff and enforce things like "one correct way" to write a function.

  • What does "senior" mean as a React developer?
    5 projects | reddit.com/r/reactjs | 8 Jan 2022
This is what I use in my projects: Prettier to format the code. Eslint (for react) and Stylelint (for styles). You can additionally use husky to run the above linters and formaters before committing the code, you can also run some tests automatically before every commit, although depending on the number of tests, this can take some time and can be a bit annoying. In GitHub/GitLab, we also have a set of actions on our pipeline to run all of these linters and tests every time we create a merge request or deploy some new code (CI/CD).
