  • I just spotted a new scam website that provides a fake electrum wallet
    1 project | reddit.com/r/litecoin | 16 Nov 2021
electrum-ltc.net is a fake website created in august 2021. the original website is electrum-ltc.org as far as i know. it is created in 2014. in my concerns about download verification i wanted to search for the latest fake electrum-ltc websites. so i went to the bing.com search engine who always provides the users with semi professional fake websites and i typed electrum ltc in the search engine. i found the fake website electrum-ltc.net . the first thing that seemed off was that they provided the electrum-ltc-4.1.5 version. meanwhile electrum-ltc.org is still at version however i still downloaded the fake 4.1.5 version from the fake .net website and the provided signature. i used kleopatra and tried to confirm the signature for the 4.1.5 wallet with Adrian Gallaghers public key ([[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) FE33 4887 7809 386C). it said in red: the signature is invalid. bad signature (screenshot attached). i wanted to look if the fake website was so smart to at least create a fake public key for thrasher, but they didnt. when i clicked on the thrasher public key link i was sent to a website that said error, out of service atm or something like that (screenshot attached).

Wait, seriously OP has a point. My understanding is that (1) https://electrum-ltc.org/ is the correct one, but there seem to be some other identical looking websites. For example, are (2) https://www.electrum-ltc.net/ and (3) https://electrum-litecoin.com/ scams? Check out (1) https://www.electrum-ltc.org/verifying-signatures.html, (2) https://electrum-ltc.net/verifying-signatures.html (3) https://electrum-litecoin.com/verifying-signatures.html and notice that the keyserver they point you to are different. (3) even appears to offer a higher version number than (1). That's super fishy.

I use Electrum (BTC version, LTC version) as my off-exchange, storage wallet on my Mac. There are Windows and Android versions as well. There are also plenty of iOS and android apps that offer crypto wallets if you prefer to keep such a thing on your phone. I like Electrum because it assigns addresses without requesting any info from you or forcing you to 'create an account.'

  • Sent LTC to an old Electrum-LTC wallet.. need help
    1 project | reddit.com/r/litecoin | 13 Aug 2021
I googled, turned out my desktop wallet needed updated as it was version and electrum-ltc.org has a message (from 2019, yes, I just been a'hodlin') saying: "Versions of Electrum-LTC older than 3.3.3 are vulnerable to a phishing attack, where malicious servers are able to display a message asking users to download a fake version of Electrum. To prevent user exposure, versions older than 3.3 can no longer connect to public servers, and must be upgraded."
  • Which one is the real electrum-ltc website?
    1 project | reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency | 4 Jun 2021
I'm new to litecoin and I wanted to create an electrum-ltc wallet. But when I tried to google for electrum-ltc, it shows two websites https://electrum-ltc.org and https://www.electrumltc.org. Which one is the real one and which one is a phishing site?
