Personally, I would recommend you to use dwm-bar instead of slstatus. It has a lot of functions and you can choose what you want and what you don't. If you want, you can use my config which uses a few functions (the ones important for me) instead of all the ones.

You may use or ignore the disp_config.sh used in this script.

Need suggestion on how are you restarting your dwm status bar set with xsetroot and not the classic dwmblocks. I have a script dwmbar which loads the status bar. Then I use another script which reloads the status bar whenever I press volume key, which takes significant time.

I have this script, which checks if last edited file is a C file or not. If it's a C file, then script will compile and run it. Alternatively if an argument is passed, script will compile that file and run it.
