There is also Drawing, but I think it has no options to set compression parameters for e.g. jpeg.

Krita is a professional FREE and open source painting program
Drawing fits that description, but it isn't really comparable to Krita — the authors describe it as like MS Paint but for Gnome.
Pinta seems similar, but more Xfce-ish.
- Sick of being recommended GIMP for photo editing software - I need something more simple.
- Looking for a "M$ Paint" alternative with as few dependencies as possible.

Fildem global menu on Fedora 36 anyone?
So, any solution for that, please? I saw this guy saying on the repo that it got it working on Fedora 35, with these same packages, so are not there any solutions for it to work on 36?

You mean fildem and install it from source it has already support for Gnome42 and edit metadata.json.
