Other than DRF, TastyPie is the other REST API framework for Django I had used in the past.

[D] Software engineers building apps with ML features
For an API, if you have a backend like Django (which I admit has a solid learning curve) you can make quick APIs with addons like django rest framework, or tastypie. The most recent I saw was django-ninja, but I have yet to try that out. I think an ML / cookie cutter plugin would be pretty interesting to be honest. I'll keep a look out and see, but /u/halfourname is correct, the flexibility would have penalties. Usually they're very narrow in scope.

Does anyone know the status of Tastypie? Worth using?
But the django-tastypie GitHub repo shows there's recent activity and it now supports "Django 2.2, 3.2 (LTS releases) or Django 4.0 (latest release)".

Hey! Cool project! I have a question: why do you dump out sys.argv to a local file in the CWD? [0] tmp.txt is hardly a unique name… or am I missing something and this never triggers?

Python GUIs
I love gooey: https://github.com/chriskiehl/Gooey
It allows me to quickly slap a GUI on an existing script that accepts command-line-arguments. In the end, I get the best of both world: Discoverability from the GUI, automation through the script, and automatic feature parity between the two.
Downside: Control over the GUI layout is basic, and only "standard" GUI features work, but I never felt limited when using it.

Question about 'chaining' Python scripts
As for how I'd handle it, I would probably combine both into one command-line program, with all filepaths using pathlib and letting argparse handle the options. That way you could optionally generate a GUI with gooey with little extra effort, although this would also add a dependency.
