Playing sounds over Discord, is it possible?
For background sounds, ambient music, cave sounds and battle music I've been using Discord Audio Pipe with Virtual Audio Cable and VLC for the past 2 years. It has worked so well I haven't even looked into any options. https://github.com/QiCuiHub/discord-audio-pipe

What I do though is a bit more complicated. I use a Virtual Cable (VB-Audio) and Discord Audio Pipe. https://github.com/QiCuiHub/discord-audio-pipe

Discord play with Foundry
If you want to use sounds on your PC and prefer to use Discord, there is a software/bot called Discord Audio Pipe. There are a few Youtube videos explaining how to set it up as well, and it works well in my tests. I think it'll work better on a boosted Discord server, to improve the quality. I hope that helps!

Music in Foundry?
Adding Discord Audio Pipe really upped my D&D game ambience, that can be found at https://github.com/QiCuiHub/discord-audio-pipe. Here are a few YouTube videos that helped me:

Should I get a Raspberry Pi for this?
Interesting to see how you did this, I actually also use a systemd service to automatically start my music bot written in Python. I used this article as a guide, along with this example. I'll look into running Foundry through systemd as well, as it's nice to be able to check in on its status (which I haven't figured out how to do with cron).
