Open Source Diablo 1 engine - DevilutionX 1.5.0 released
BTW I decided to look if they fixed the dupe bug and what the deal was a while ago. Turns out it was really small fix. https://github.com/diasurgical/devilutionX/commit/1ee9eee711b5f7ed83846870e8e83f9b79f56278

Diablo like games
https://github.com/diasurgical/devilutionX Port of Diablo 1 with QOL improvements and controller support. Works great on retroid 3 plus. You need some files from the PC version that you can buy on GOG.

Diablo 1 (1996) Fallen One - Well, only the Sword & Shield one via some Nose-Size Mockup Testing with PaintDotNet, might do other Fallen Ones including Spear and Brute variants very sooner or later maybe 🥸
I might suggest recommend playing Belzebub (D1 HD Mod), or Tchernobog which is a new WIP-meaning-Developer-Alpha version of BB 2.0 or 3.0 it seems; or, The Hell (1, or 2, or 3) Mod(s), or DevilutionX, which only lets you play regular Diablo1 and Hellfire (optional D1 expansion) instead of BB/TCH and/or TH-1-or-2-or-3 mods on modern systems (like Windows 10 until Late 2025, W1-which-is-idk-new-W10, newer Macs, etc.) afterwards it seems. :-)

Syncthing: A continuous file synchronization program
Not sure if this is exactly what you're describing but I noticed the open-source Diablo engine DevilitionX has Zerotier built in to allow online multiplayer sessions.
https://github.com/diasurgical/devilutionX/wiki/Multiplayer#...
I thought it was interesting way for an open-source game to provide a way to find other players without relying on paid dedicated servers.

Its Time to Finish What I Started
I have about 100 mods running, but if you mean graphics wise, I use the Thastus 2020 guide
Its a bunch of mods that are part of the Thastus mod guide plus I'm running it at 1440p through Morrowind Graphics Extender
I used the 2020 Thastus guide

Where to buy Morrowind
As for modding, if you do end up getting it from GOG then you can either mod the vanilla game (Thastus 2020 is a good mod list) or go OpenMW and use one of the lists on Modding OpenMW. If you get Morrowind on Game Pass you’ll probably need to just use OpenMW because I don’t think MWSE works with the Game Pass version of Morrowind.

Complete list of graphical overhaul and modernization mods
If you want to use the default game with the default game's engine I would suggest getting the game from GoG. Modding Steam versions of the game is more difficult and prone to more errors due to the file structure of Steam games. The other option would be to play on OpenMW, a brand new engine that was developed by fans. That's free to download and I believe you can use any version of the game with it (I do not personally use OpenMW, hopefully someone who does will chime in with more info). Modlists for the base game that I would suggest include Morrowind Sharp, Morrowind++ (this is based of off Sharp so it's similar but more heavily modded than Sharp), and the Morrowind Thastus 2020 modlist on this sub seems pretty good too. For OpenMW I only know of this modlist. One thing to remember is that you don't need to use every mod on a modlist, feel free to pick and choose what you'd like, just make sure the mod(s) you like isn't dependent on a mod you don't like. Mod authors as well as modlist authors usually make those dependencies abundantly clear.

So I want to move from OPENMW
Since 2018 I've tested/used Thastus, Morrowind Graphics Guide, Morrowind First Time, and Nerevar Rising (back when it was called Morrowind# so maybe something's changed but it looks similar) with zero issues, then combined what I liked of them for the base of my own load order along with a shitload of other mods.

What unreleased mods are you looking forward to?
Or this even more complicated one: https://github.com/Tyler799/Morrowind-2020/blob/master/Morrowind_2020.md

I got MGE XE and MGSO 3.0 and I can’t figure out how to configure it to look like an ENB like everybody else somehow does. Help?
Alternatively, you could manually follow a more recent guide like Thastus 2020 (more visual bling, more advanced guide) Morrowind Graphics Guide (a couple years outdated but easier than Thastus) or Morrowind++ (current, vanilla++ guide. Not as overhauled as Thastus but looks better in several ways.) All three go through the mods needed and the steps for getting a fantastic looking game. There is also Morrowind First Time which honestly might still look better than MGSO and is very quick and easy to install.
