I have a "kitchen sink" visual that was built to support a course I did with RADACAD, which is paid for, but they also let me open-source the resulting visual. You can have a look at this for ideas, but the MS developer docs also reference a sample bar chart, which helps link the concepts to a D3-based situation.

Because visuals are so open-ended and usually created due to something being 'missing' from Power BI, it's hard to find any good structured learning that might cover your use case exactly. I believe there are a couple of courses on LinkedIn Learning that work through some simple visuals, and I did a course for RADACAD that tries to cover everything off through developing a simple dumbbell chart. By way of disclaimer, this particular course is not free, but RADACAD did permit me to open-source the visual produced in the course, which you can find here.
