You have some alternatives. For one you may look into the Deej sources, it uses python to manipulate the volume level of different apps/devices so maybe it's a good starting point.

As the title says i've been trying to change volume of audio endpoints based on a serial connection via an arduino (sorta like https://github.com/omriharel/deej, but there are also buttons involved for macros and a ui via tauri). I've been experimenting with the windows-rs package to get it to work myself but i can't. can somebody link an example for this sort of functionality or a already made project with this sort of functionality?

The macropad is based off of Deej. There are a ton of remakes of it, so I made one for myself. The knobs are for volume on different programs.

[WaVeS](https://github.com/JRitmeester/WaVeS) allows you to map these 5 (or however many you want) signals to different applications. The config file is a simple .txt file, the code is not overly compact so that it remains readable (at least I hope so), and using PyQt5 I turned it into a system tray icon for simple interaction, like reloading the slider-application mappings without having to restart the app.
