Fat pigeon tandem
DCS LIberation https://github.com/dcs-liberation/dcs_liberation to generate a campaign for DCS world with your friend which would be generally more performance intensive but really fun.

Liberation with multithreading
I run Liberation missions on an i7-12700k, RTX 3080, NVME, 64GB RAM. On scenarios with over 200 aircraft, I'm getting 80 to 100 fps (note that 100 fps is the max fps I have it limited to) on both Syria and South Atlantic, which are the two most resource-hungry maps. This is roughly double my framerate before multi-threading. I see no need to run Liberation missions on a server at all now. Just try it out and see how well it runs. Since you are new to Liberation, be sure to have a look through the wiki (https://github.com/dcs-liberation/dcs_liberation/wiki) to help with the learning curve, and if you have further questions, drop by the Liberation discord (https://discord.gg/bKrtrkJ).

DCS Liberation-Hard to set up and use? I’m looking for something my buddy and I can do together aside from multiplayer servers.
Better to use the actual link to the wiki here rather than that redirector page. https://github.com/dcs-liberation/dcs_liberation/wiki

Performance sanity check, getting roughly 45-50 fps at 3440x1440. i9-10900 @ 3.70, RTX 3080 10GB, 64GB RAM. GPU rarely gets above 50%. Nothing overclocked.
I haven’t done it any other way since figuring this out, also created this little bat file and guide to do it. dedicated Sever guide
