VS Code Syntax Highlighting
It's very rare I open files that big, but just for fun I took the 1k lines here: https://github.com/sqlcollaborative/dbatools/blob/development/dbatools.psm1 copied and pasted the code 37 times into a .ps1 file and opened it in ISE. ISE opened and highlighted it in like 1-2 seconds so the PS parser is clearly able to parse things quick enough for it to not matter.

win_domain_group_membership taking longtime to add members to AD group
This may be related to https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.windows/pull/204 which changed the logic of how it searched for group members. This was introduced in v1.4.0 of the community.windows collection.
Unfortunately there's not much else you can do really. The time taken is due to the code that's being run and how Windows/PowerShell is sending the info. It taking hours sounds really wrong though it might be worthwhile looking through the code https://github.com/ansible-collections/community.windows/blob/main/plugins/modules/win_domain_group_membership.ps1 to see what it's running and see if you can replicate that manually through an interactive PowerShell prompt.
