If you're trying to install DFU, go to their latest release, download the mac version, and do not use the GOG cut, it is apparently incredibly bugged, messes with a lot of mods, and using either the bethesda website's download or the steam version for the original game files (both are free) skirts around some bug that comes with the GOG cut. I don't know what the GOG cut even is, but I've seen almost every mod on the Nexus say it's bugged and to not use it, so idk. If you don't care about mods, you will. Daggerfall is a Bethesda game, so you're bound to mod it to hell and back.

Diablo is the original "anti-souls" game.

The slot machine mechanics, the lacking of significant strategic elements and that sense of hollow progression have always been key factors for my dissatisfaction with it.

That said, the beautiful / dreadful / horror vibe and simplicity of the first game to this day regularly pulls me in – only to ultimately dissatisfy me greatly. Each time. There is "no there there".

Diablo could have been so much more but they turned it into a highly engineered form of drug that can potentially destroy you with little to nothing to gain for it (nicotine?).
