Suckless-esque floating WM
If you're looking for something minimal but a tad more featureful than the ~200 SLOC suggestions you may enjoy cwm. It has a tags-like method of grouping/showing windows somewhat like dwm.

CWM root window button actions
You can see the default bindings for these mouse buttons here https://github.com/leahneukirchen/cwm/blob/linux/conf.c#L263 and can read about what each of those commands do here http://man.openbsd.org/cwmrc.5

cwm windows menu (exclusions)
As best I can tell by looking at the source for the function that populates the window list, I don't think there's any way to for the menu to ignore items you've tagged ignore.

FVWM and the quest for a comfortable NetBSD desktop
I came back to fvwm, previously using cwm and spectrwm, just because I found annoying to lose control of my wm after sharing screen on zoom (a must have due to working remotely). Very happy with it, particularly after giving it a old school unix twist with https://github.com/yaoguai/fvwm-min
What are some alternatives?
