PS: try posting logs and config files on a text sharing sight like 0bin.net, that way it's easier to look through your post, and config/log without having to break the mouse wheel :)

For real both an auto mod and a wiki it would really help a lot. For the Auto mod to preferable reminding people to post the logs on a separate like on https://0bin.net/ It makes it easier to look through several logs or scripts and compare notes, while still reading OP's comment/question.

So on to the UI: I see that you're not serving Javascript and advising that your users turn it off. IMO fear of real Javascript exploitation is largely based on tradition rather than a rational assessment of the real risk areas, but I'll assume that's your reason for not using any of the PrivateBin clones which offer browser-side encryption in addition to client-side encryption, the original, the pure-js one, the Go one. I get it. I don't expect people to trust the JavaScript I serve them either, my own opinions on the risk notwithstanding, so I don't bother with a PrivateBin clone either. But I don't advertise some model of privacy on my pastebin. It's very clear that the files aren't encrypted unless you encrypt them(But passwords are only in hash form if a password configured by the user) to avoid imparting a false sense of security.

If you haven't already pasted the log to pastebin, I'd recommend using 0bin.net because the contents of the log will be encrypted and thus inaccessible on the server-side. The site will then generate a link that you can post here, which includes the decryption key so we'll be able to read it.

Yep, that's what we do with https://0bin.net.

Also you must avoid client side 3rd party scrips, so no analytics.

We also had several demands for a url shortener but couldn't find a sustainable way to do it. 3rs party have rate limits and hosting our own would get us back to step one.

DMCA also gets really interesting when you get a request but they don't include the hash because some of their tooling strip it along the way.

Anyway, even with all thay, you still trust us since we could inject a rogue script at any time in the page.

So the process really protect only us as host (see our faq), but if you want real security, use pgp or signal.

Unless I missing something, there are a ton of open source client side encrypted pastebin around.

E.G: 0bin.net (https://0bin.net/), with a lot of good faith in the FAQ (https://0bin.net/faq/), a basic and open source code (https://github.com/Tygs/0bin), zero JS stats on the main instance and alternative instances already in the wild. It does feature self destruct.

I came to say say that's not a language problem, that's a packaging problem. But that would be misleading.

The reason packaging is still a problem in Python are linked to the language:

    - to get perfs, you need compiled extensions, which java doesn't need. So a Jar can be fast and portable, while in Python it's an "or" proposition. Wheels help, but they still are OS dependent, so you need a build per OS.

    - PYZ arrived very late in Python, while WAR were a very early thing in Java. Few people even know you can distribute a whole Python program in a single zip file with dependencies using something like shiv (shiv.readthedocs.io). So few people do it, and it's a shame. We do it for 0bin though: https://github.com/Tygs/0bin/releases. And it doesn't solve the wheel problem, although nuitka does but it a higher prices to pay.

    - packaging tooling have been a mess for 2 decades. Setuptools/distutils/setuptools2, easy_install/pip, and setup.cfg/setup.py/pyproject.toml. We failed as a community on this one. It's getting better, but it's a slow process.

    - the Python community is at least half composed of amateurs. It's a good thing for the dynamism of the community, but it also means the software are not very polished. Hard packaging + amateurs = packages that are releases when they reach "just good enough" stage, not one inch more. It also means you'll get things like leaking stack traces, config files in src and the likes.
