I really, REALLY wanted to use linux
Install a Chromium-based browser (e.g. Brave) using Wine (I did it using Bottles), and you should be able to stream in 1080p.

Safely running malicious 2000s games on linux
As long as you run them sandboxed, e.g. using Bottles via Flatpak, or maybe even Firejail, it's just very unlikely they will affect your system.

Install Trouble w/ Lack of UEFI & NO BIOS
Just a few quick tips: - Steam is the best place to game on Linux. Proton does wonders. To enable it for all titles, go into settings -> Steam Play -> Enable Steam Play for all titles - For games not on Steam, use either Lutris or Bottles. - I don't know about the exact state of VR on Linux, but I think some (most?) games don't work, even with WINE/Proton. In this case, as a last resort, you can run a VM. You'll have to setup GPU-passthrough to get acceptable performances. I think virt-manager is well suited for that, but it's not exactly the most user-friendly software. You'll have to ask for help on this point, I suppose.

How to install Wine? Is OpenSUSE Wiki entry on Wine outdated?
You use case may differ, but I use flatpak and Bottles. Getting anything useful out of Wine has always been a hassle (at least for me). With Bottles I've got Steam working with games e.g. Split Second with moderate effort.

I have been using MicroOS Desktop exclusively for half a year now ... I am not going back to traditional distributions.

Tags no longer register and i've finally had it with galaxy 2.0. Any recommended alternatives?
Heroic Games Launcher: Support is limited to Epic, GOG and Amazon but the advantage is that it can manage their games itself without the need of their own launchers. Doesn't have support for tags currently.

Making the switch - what are the gaps?
For "normal" games you could look yourself using ProtonDB regarding every game released on Steam and AreWeAntiCheatYet for most multiplayer games. If a game isn't available on Steam you have three possibilities. First if it's available on GOG, Epic Games or Amazon Gaming, you could use the Heroic Games Launcher. Second you could try to run the launchers through Steam itself using once again Proton. Third you could try installing it with a script or tutorial in Lutris or Bottles.

Are there any major sacrifices you make to play on Linux over Windows?
ProtonDB is a community list of Steam games rating their playability. Heroic launcher runs GOG and Epic games. Lutris and Bottles can be used to run everything else.
