Codelite
Which is especially strange since they are already on GitHub, which means if they attached those artifacts to the GitHub Release <https://github.com/eranif/codelite/releases/tag/17.0.0> then they'd be served to you from S3 at "S3-speeds"
I mean, I hear them about "donationware" or whatever that is, but even having support.php hotlink to the GH release artifact would still be a win, and security through obscurity means likely folks wouldn't look on the GH releases page for the artifacts to bypass the support.php nagware anyway

My IDE is too heavy so I moved to Emacs
> running the community edition of Jetbrains’ IntelliJ IDEA
...
> As much as it hurts me to say this, as a fan of JetBrains and its tools, IntelliJ just seems to have become too heavy to run properly on a laptop that’s not at the very higher end of laptops in the early 2020’s.
IntelliJ does what I want, but only barely. The autocompletion gets it wrong as much as it gets it right and it is a performance hog.
I can deal with that.
The problem for me was JetBrains' privacy policy[0]. It is loosely-worded enough to forbid them practically nothing, and I find that especially appalling in a so-called "community edition".
So I began searching for alternatives. Emacs may serve for OP but I always forget how to exit it so I wanted something with a click close button in the top right.
I am getting a good initial impression from Codelite[1]. I'm sure Codelite doesn't do everything IntelliJ's IDEs do, but it has the functionality I use and it is a breath of fresh air after waiting for IDEA and the like to catch their breath during text editing.

JetBrains' unremovable AI assistant meets irresistible outcry
After using JB tools for years, I switched to VSCodium last year. My advice to anyone considering switching, stick with it for a few weeks. There is a lot of muscle memory to rebuild and it won't be a smooth experience at first. Stick it out, and you will be rewarded with a libre IDE that you control.
Seems like you still lose the Python plugin and remote extensions? Missing the wsl one is pretty rough. If you’re comfortable with vim (or want to be) I can’t recommend neovim enough.

I cancelled my Replit subscription
Curious what you think of https://github.com/VSCodium/vscodium .
I'm not actually familiar with the issues that VSCode has but I seem to recall some key component was not OSS, but I forget the details there and maybe it has changed. I know it has telemetry and such, but AFAICT that can be disabled by some settings.
